I don't want to work for anybody else and I also don't want to work for myself. I find all of it exhausting, and annoying. Repetitive, unfulfilling, and exploitative. Bc I don't want to work my “mother” and my “best friend” think I'm lazy and they think I'm crazy for not wanting to be on the hamster wheel. But the thought of working, drives me crazy. I also think my boyfriend would break up with me if I went a long time without actively looking for work.

I am 3/4 time at my current job and the job I will be training for is on-call only for at least a year. That's why I don't want to quit my current job. Should I quit or wait for them to fire me for being a no-show. Any other options?

I have a degree in environmental engineering, but ended up in the pharmaceutical field. I work as a validation consultant, and while I like my company, I would like a better work/life balance eventually. I don't have much experience though, so I want to save up and get a few years of experience under my belt before leaving. My question to reddit is where can my husband and I move to with a better work culture? I'm open to any country really, but I would definitely prefer one with free healthcare as my husband has many health issues. Any advice?

I'd like to entertain this honestly. There are good arguments to be made for UBI, raising the minimum wage, and wealth redistribution. I wonder if the these are distractions, though? A living wage just seems to be accepting too many assumptions from the outset. The question proposed presumes that capitalism is the solution. The question assumes that tiny changes to wealth distribution in the form of wage increases amount to substantive change in the underlying power imbalance. Instead, the conversation must begin by acknowledging basic requirements of any economic paradigm: 1) A goal of eliminating human suffering a) and advancing collective good 2) A goal of sustainability 3) A mechanism for self-correction a) based on skeptical inquiry and evidenced-based beliefs Of course, all of this is made possible by a willingness to change and the willingness to participate in the proposed solutions once agreed upon.

If there is actually any I mean I’m from Portugal and I’ve never worked less than 45 hours week (mon-fri) Kinda tired that we all complain and do nothing about it so at least I wanna know jobs with good reputation so I can apply

Curious. I’ve read some other posts about employers that are being sneaky and taking extra advantage of ppp loans. I get it was needed to keep the doors open and survive during a pandemic. I have a question though. My wide worked at a salon I’ll not name. They received a total of 700k in ppp loans. They were shut down for about 3 months. She didn’t get any pay from them. She had to file unemployment. I know they pay a healthy lease payment monthly. It’s not 200k though. Where did all that money go? Funny they now are “remodeling” and have funds for things now.

I'm curious on that specific age range because it's after typical college age and before your 30s when you're typically supposed to have an established career rolling. I personally am going to be 27 this year and I only have like 5 or 6 thousand in my work 401K. I have several more thousand in my checking account but I eat out and smoke so much weed that I spend almost just as much as I make lol. I also have 3k in the stock market so total net worth of like 13 or 14k between everything? Definitely not on track to retire but I only earn 18/hr
