With Tax Evasion Rising Among the Wealthy, the IRS is Conducting Fewer Audits According to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles Rettig, the United States fails to collect $1 trillion in taxes every single year. That’s more than the GDP of at least 179 countries. With that in mind, one might hope the agency is cracking down on tax evaders. But new research from Syracuse University says high earners face far less scrutiny today than they did just a few years ago. One might say, “shocker.” Roughly 99% of taxes on wages are paid straight to the IRS, something most people know all too well because they’ve seen their paystubs. But only 45% is paid on less visible sources of income, according to the US Treasury Department. This gap “disproportionately benefits high earners who accrue more of their income from non-labor sources where misreporting is common,” the Treasury adds. Rather…
I work in a Bank as Cybersecurity, the typical dress code is business casual. Coming from a company that had no dress code I think it is stupid af. The concept of “dress for the job you want” is cringe. I’ve been just dressing normally and no one have said anything for about 15 months now. It's been 2+ years since I've been creeped on by a coworker, and the idea of having to return to the office and being required to share space with some of these people is already exasperating. Though people can still say/do upsetting things over calls/video chats/email, they are often on record so it is easier to prove. Before anyone tells me I need to quit my job, it is with a company that has one of the better reputations in gender relations – I just work in IT(Also in school, hoping to move on and up with time). Dealing with harassment/sexism is essentially a job requirement. It isn't possible or practical to report every transgression. I doubt any managers have actually weighed this while contemplating how to force butts into office chairs, though
Speechless
Sometimes my mind wanders off and I find myself thinking on what could I do to never have to work again. I'm not talking about winning the lottery, just a way to earn a living amount every month, without the need to talk with people I don't like and be stressed all week…
