The new Gilded Age

If we consider money as a finite resource like gold, then a few hoarders are keeping it away from everyone else. Therefore, no matter how hard someone works, they’ll never have that resource as it’s in the safes of a few and not going back to the many. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/wealth-inequality-billionaires-piketty-report/

“it’s a fact of life..” UPDATE book is secure. I won’t be recycling it just yet. a lot of folks showed interest in what other tactics employers take to exploit us. I’ll be reading the book and posting what I find in here periodically.

Today I stood up for myself.

Today I interviewed for a new job. I am currently on EI (Canada) and I have to apply for jobs in case they audit me, but I also do want to find a new job that is well rounded and pays decent. I have a lot of experience in my field and left my last role due to mental illness brought on by burn out. Anyways, I when I applied for this role I didn’t really read the outline too closely because I haven’t had a call back for any jobs yet, so I guess wasn’t actually expecting them to contact me? Does that make sense? Anyways, I did get a call, so I put some research in to the role and discovered that this franchise is mashing 3 roles into 1, and calling it a new term that they feel better suits the role. However, the pay works out…

No money. No regrest.

EDIT typo in the title. REGRETS. Wow. About 6 months ago, I quit my job that was making me miserable. I have gained about $2,000 in credit card debt and about $3,500 on my credit line and have no way to pay it off. I buy only the cheapest things to survive. And you know what? I have no regrets. My mental health is at an all time high and I know I will pay it all back once I find a place that respects me. My manager used to take a dollar out of our tip jar for every minute we were in the washroom beyond 2 minutes—making going number two virtually impossible, which was even more difficult with my many stomach problems. We used to have a system where if an order was sent back to the kitchen, the shift supervisor needed to go to the kitchen and…

Coworkers and managers think we should sacrifice for not having kids

I don’t think it is right that we are expected to sacrifice our lives and time because we don’t have kids. It’s like we don’t have a family. Mother’s Day is for us to spend time with our moms and grandmas as well. We don’t have too much time with them. If they want the day off then take it but don’t throw us under the boss or constantly volunteer us because we are not parents. We should be fine working every Sunday because we are not moms ! No! We have a right to have a life just as much as you. Stand up for your life but mind your business about mine. Are you experiencing the same issue? Tell me your story

IRS is Conducting Fewer Audits on the Wealthy

With Tax Evasion Rising Among the Wealthy, the IRS is Conducting Fewer Audits According to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles Rettig, the United States fails to collect $1 trillion in taxes every single year. That’s more than the GDP of at least 179 countries. With that in mind, one might hope the agency is cracking down on tax evaders. But new research from Syracuse University says high earners face far less scrutiny today than they did just a few years ago. One might say, “shocker.” Roughly 99% of taxes on wages are paid straight to the IRS, something most people know all too well because they’ve seen their paystubs. But only 45% is paid on less visible sources of income, according to the US Treasury Department. This gap “disproportionately benefits high earners who accrue more of their income from non-labor sources where misreporting is common,” the Treasury adds. Rather…
