DISCLAIMER: I am fully aware how poorly I handled this. It was my first job, I was young, and very stupid. My coworkers were all 30-40+ so I had a very “trust the adults” kind of mindset. Also I have mental health issues that make it hard for me to set boundaries or tell when I’m being taken advantage of, possible ASD but not diagnosed yet. I wanted to vent about it because I’m sure this still happens to people like me all the time. I would never allow something like this to happen to me now, but it’s something crazy to look back on. I have been kicking myself over this job for years and wanted to share how I allowed myself to be taken advantage of at work when I was 18. It was my first job and I had no idea none of this was normal -…

I got laid off almost 3 weeks ago and immediately filed for unemployment. This is my first time doing so and it was frustrating enough to navigate through the process and figure out all the requirements and limitations. Now I get a message that the expedited payout during COVID has ended and it will take 8-10 weeks to process! How is this supposed to help me? I thought unemployment is supposed to hold one over until they can get another job, but with that long a delay I'll probably have gotten another job by then, but have no assistance during this critical time! This is total bullshit!
Last day regrets?
Im a student worker for my schools dept & i got a new job in another dept. They wanted me to do an exit interview & i did it – just talked about the issues i had with my supervisor who randomly upped and left. She was also disorganized. Then at the end the head of dept wanted to know who im doing my new job with. I told her im not comfortable disclosing who im working with. Im naturally a private person which is why i didnt say. Am i wrong for not telling her? She said she asked because she wanted to put in a good word for me but i just said i'm not comortable disclosing. Its still within the same university not the same school. Am i wrong? Idk i have a feeling its just nosiness and them wanting to know who im working with. Curious…
Fully Staffed
A fully staffed business is a minimally staffed business. Call in sick and you will see what I mean!

I've been in this company for about 5 months as a talent acquisition specialist. There are so many issues with recruitment and company practices – great topic for a different thread. The managers I work with are all panicking and I'm enjoying the satisfaction of seeing things fall apart (despite my recruitment efforts). My company shared an article with the town acquisition department discussing what gen z is looking for in the workforce. Compensation was fourth on the list after benefits and work-life balance. I have a hard time believing that compensation is really fourth…
I’m based in Ohio. I am paid hourly. Went out of town for a week for a work trip. Left my house Sunday(3/6/22) at 7:00am and arrived at the hotel at 2:15pm. Work days during the week were standard 8 hour work days. Leaving today right after I leave the job site straight to the airport and I will arrive at my home at 11:30 PM. So in total this is around 53 hours for the week. My boss is saying that travel time is not eligible for the overtime rate (1.5x) and I will be getting paid my normal hourly rate. I’ve looked online and I can’t find anything that clearly states this or refutes this, but it feels like I’m getting fucked. Am I eligible for the overtime pay? Apologies if this isn’t the correct place to post this but may members of this sub seem well versed…
