While not saying the sociopathy part, he described their leadership style as basically none, with a sink or swim mentality. You will be blamed for anything that goes awry, without realistic guidance or upper managerial responsibility.
My cousins in our home country have it easy compared to our parents gen. Cars, smartphones, supermarkets, no time for family, no time for hobbies, no hope of buying a home , lifetimes worth of deb…hmmmm wait a minute. in the 60's and 70's my parents generation traveled to the u.s. or work and school. Some already had degrees or training and just came for work. Their quality of life went up being in the U.S. and back home because of remittances until the feds started cracking down on Black immigrants (legal or otherwise) in the 1980's onward. On my dad's side everyone but him got deported or didn't get their visas renewed despite all of them being gainfully employed and staying out of trouble A Around that time their home country got hit by violence from cartels AND economic sanctions from the u.s. even tho the cartels were backed by…
I was sent a package…
A few weeks back I applied for an assistant position. They emailed me back saying that the position had been filled but they had a personal assistant job available and would send that person my resume. I agreed. He quickly hired me through email and things started to get weird. He said he was in Canada but would send me my first assignment.i wasn't too invested in this job, for the most part I went about my everyday life. A couple weeks went by and I had not heard from him so I assumed it was a scam. Then he messaged me saying he sent something to my address and it should be delivered soon. And I would get paid an extra $200 for gas and feeding. Instantly I got freaked out and told him that I was not interested. He got upset. I ignored him. But now I got…
Sanctions is a prime example. Folks may, in light of the Ukraine-Russia war, all of the sudden heard about western sanctions on Russia and think “Yeah OK Sanctions sure that's like…taking yachts right?” and it can be. But the longest standing economic sanctions by the U.S. are on places you will scratch your head trying to understand why and have effects that you'll have a hard time understanding what that's necessary. Some examples. Cuba – The blockade has, for 60+ years, made food, basic medical products, basic equipment like tractors or farming equipment, damn near impossible for average Cubans to get. The U.S. still claims it (sanctions) will someday collapse Cuba's government but at this point it's clear that's not gonna happen and either way it only makes workers in Cuba suffer. Zimbabwe – The Black majority of Zimbabwe ended the brutal apartheid regime and started to repatriate a lot…
When someone says that no job is worth your life. They are so fucking true. And three years ago, I was doing a pretty mienrable job in manufacturing. Packing stuff for most of the time. I was there for 2 and a half years. After some time passed to where I was really starting to feel like I was getting suicidal, (back in 2019) and whenever we had some downtime, I remembered I used to take this box cutter out of my pocket and just stare at it for a while. Having the most terrible thoughts you could only think of… thankfully, that was when it was time for me to get as far the hell away from that place as I possibly could. I needed to eventually go on disability to this very day though. Due to being unable to function I guess in society has made me more…
Back to the office preparation
Looks like we are soon going back to the office. I hate it. WFH has been the best time of my career so far. I did everything I was supposed to workwise and also had time for hobbies and chores. Now I need to commute 2 hours a day in order to sit in a lifeless, empty office (alone, door closed) for 8 hours a day with less than 2-3 hours of stuff to do each day. I am thinking on how to smuggle books, or even a console in there in order to get some time wasted in the office. Any experience or other ideas for making time go by faster – but not fully wasted ?

Facebook cutting worker perks
Facebook cutting worker perks. Seems like they're intentionally trying to cut employees without having wall street take notice or paying unemployment. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/11/technology/facebook-meta-perks.html
Hey all so I'm a driving instructor for mostly high school kids and so sometimes, being new drivers and all, people get into curbs or collisions or something like that. Today that happened, a student barely grazed the curb and the tire went flat. I told my dispatch and they grilled me about being negligent and terrible at my job and all that. Then proceeded to tell me to change the tire to the spare and pickup the next student tomorrow. This is an SUV. The student is a good driver so I'm not worried but this has to be against the law right?! I'm 1099 so IDK anything about what can be done. He also says I might be liable for damage since it was on my watch. I'm getting to my breaking point.
