I remember listening to an interview of CEO from 5 years back. Forgot the company name but it was in top 3 best companies to work for. He was asked what makes your employees so happy when majority of companies can’t. His answer:- For our management our employees are customers. If we keep our employees happy they keep our customers happy. He said we don’t ask employees to work overtime at all but they do just as a favor because they are treated so well. If you treat your employees well they will go way beyond to complete their work. It is a simple maths we keep our employees happy, they keep customers happy which in turn generate good revenue so investors are happy. He also said managers are happy. Happy employees means happy managers. Such a basic concept yet 99% of companies fails to understand it
So I just posted a screen cap of this tweet to the subreddit and it did cause a bit of a stir. The more I watched arguments unfold, the more I realized how harmful the discourse I had brought was. It caused infighting, doctors v janitors, and a minor community divide over who “deserved” more. It was one of those things that just distracted from the bigger picture. I'm making this post partially to bring attention to that, and similar posts. I'm also making it to say appreciate damn janitors. Cuz wow. There was quite a crap ton of disrespect and undermining the work that janitors do. They do more than just mop. They risk their lives to save yours, I hope you all realize that. The shit (literally) they're exposed to and expected to clean all the time, the way they're heavily overworked… It's not easy. I saw a…
The comments on the last post I made were right. I just scammed 10 hours of work 6 of which were overtime. So I lost 242 bucks and that's a lot for me (16). What should I do know? What can I do?
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/spm1fx/i_was_walked_out_of_work_today_because_i_said_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Is a good example of this. New account, huge spam of posts in the same day. And not even really responding to people other than “Thanks” “yes it’s true” “I found another job already” This feels like another wave of the karma farmers who know what the sub gets riled up for, and just keeps flooding the feed with nonsense
Hahaha. *sigh.* *mumbles “Fuuuuuuucc.”*
NZ minimum wage is now $21.20.
The minimum went up by 6% to keep in line with inflation. The “living wage” is currently $22.70 per hour (but is due to go up shortly.)
I’ll start off with, I was casually searching for a new job, I was in no rush. This seemed like a good opportunity and the CEO I was interviewing with made it seem like I was good to go but I just had to do a project as a formality. It was $25/hour and a 20 hour project. Normally I’d say ‘no way’ but because I was casually searching I figured I might as well. To do the project I was granted full access to their systems (Google Analytics, their internal wiki, reporting updates etc.) all to my personal email, as well as access to their Slack. They wanted me to act like I was part of the team and talk to the team to get the work done, again heavily insinuating it’s because I would be on the team. Cut to, I get the project outline and it’s a…
I’m so burnt out
I’ve worked 5 years now in a job that is toxic to me and is a paycheck at the end of the day. I’ve applied to other jobs on and off o er the years but would go hard until I stopped trying. I’m exhausted and I find myself looking forward to having a child not because I want one but because maybe then I can work from home. I’m 10 minutes late to work everyday, I can’t get myself there on time, and I’m barely mentally present when I’m there. I’m not happy and I’ve lost my bubbliness while I’m there. I don’t even have a desire to socialize bc I feel like it’s all fake. I’m exhausted and I’m tired of it but I can’t seem to find anything better. How do I get any joy out of work again when it’s a paycheck, not a passion, and…
