I'm not sure if this belongs here – if it doesn't, I apologize. I work for a tiny internet and cable company. I started in August of 2020 after a wicked bout of unemployment. It's a decent gig. I work in a branch office and am the only person who works in the office. I do customer support/care (mostly billing questions) and I dispatch our technicians (mostly done by another team – I just help when they're busy). But lately, I just feel… pointless. I don't do much of anything during my day. I'm actually at work right now. I spend most of my day waiting for the phone to ring, which almost never happens, or to have someone walk into my office, which happens even less. (Side note: I was going to write a separate rant about that. The phone doesn't ring. I wear a headset all day and…

This is my first fast food job but I've had many other retail jobs but is it normal for it to have mice? The only thing I'm scared of is getting the disease you get from rat shit that has no cure. Do all fast food places have some sort of pest? I'm in California and I'm getting annoyed by having to clean the counters where cups and coffee are made because of mice / rat poop.
My brother just told me that he landed a job and is excited to begin a career. When I asked him how much his pay would be he said $17.25/hr, but I explicitly remember him saying a few days back that he'd ask for $19/hr since his buddy who works there encouraged him to say that. I asked what happened and he said that the recruiter looked at his previous wages and went off that and the fact that he has no experience in this particular field. (He made $17.50/hr after 3 years delivering for Amazon.) I thought this was shit and told him he should have lied and said he made closer to $20 with Amazon after so long, then see what happens. So, has anyone ever actually had an employer verify previous wages/salary?
Currently job searching, which is getting frustrating on its own. I've probably submitted over 50 applications since I quit and I've only gotten 2 calls for interviews. For all these companies to say they're understaffed and urgently hiring, it really doesn't seem like it. But anyway. I was called and we had our interview on 1/24. I really want this job, it's a perfect fit and pays more than my last job. It went well and they said I was more than qualified for the position. They told me that they'd have their decision made by the end of that week since they had a couple more interviews and they'd either email me if I wasn't selected or call me if I did get it. I really appreciated it because I hate when employers just ghost you after an application. Just let me know if I'm not selected, right. A…
Resume Ideas
Hey guys, I need some help spicing up my resume. My under paying job is about to cut a bunch of people so I need to start job hunting asap. I've seen this reddit group help some folks get a better job and maybe I could too. I work at a full serve car wash, and my location is about to go outside washes only, moving staff to the other two locations or laying them off entirely. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Im introverted so i dont network references well.
Understanding this subreddit
I've followed this subreddit for a while because I understand there are a lot of fucked up things about capitalism and I wanted to learn more… I wouldn't proclaim myself anti-work… I believe it's in our nature to build things and provide services etc… And obviously that's being exploited… But I believe work at it's core can be a good thing The fuckery is so deeply wound into the fabric of the world and especially the USA… As a working class person… It is a source of deep despair for me… I want to fight it, but just quitting or refusing to work doesn't seem realistic for me… is that what you all are advocating? Everyone just quit their jobs? Why? Thanks.
Sometimes in the morning I get unbelievably motion sick when waking up. This results in vommiting and dizziness. So I simply can't work that day. So I call out. Everytime I do tho I feel guilty. Not because of my boss or anything, she has been pretty relaxed and chill.
