Associate Engagement Survey

I kinda like my job. Most days it's just a job where I can work for my check and my insurance. I work from home, I get a great amount of time off, I was even able to adjust my work schedule to make time for an artist residency that I was accepted for. Other days someone asks me a question and I will drop a significant amount of personal truth steeped in depression and anti-commercialism on them. Tell them how what we do has no meaning and is contributing to the downfall of small business, entrepreneurism, and crushing the dreams of “the little guy”. It doesn't matter what the questions were in the survey. I think it's more of the answers that came up within me as I read them. See below: “I do not really feel that my concerns are important enough to anyone outside of my team…

What % of your salary do you spend on rent?

Currently almost half of my salary goes for rent and that's pretty ridiculous

Are people really tired of the way things are?

I feel like I see so many people complain about the way things are in the government but very little action being taken to change things. I understand that if people were to up and quit their jobs it would help our voices be heard but how are we supposed to afford to live during that time? I constantly think about going downtown and holding a sign saying I’m not working anymore until something changes. Would anyone even bat an eye? Would people just walk by with a sympathetic look maybe a few words of kindness or maybe even hate? Are we forever stuck to live like this? From taxes taking our hard earned money, even with overtime. My colleagues have to work 80 hour shifts just to feel like they are making a decent wage. I don’t wanna live like that. It’s not normal, i wanna wake up and…

I sincerely don’t think a revolution is possible in the USA (let’s talk about it)

Not saying I'm right or wrong. I'm open to all opinions. However, I don't think we will revolt in the US. Let's put aside all the idiotic culture wars the 1% manufacture to divide us Even if Americans were on the same page and kumbaya-ing in a circle, I think that the police state, and in general, the power and influence the ruling class have over this country is just too great for us to compete. If we strike, striking will be suddenly made illegal (rights be damned, of course) overnight and the punishment will no-doubt be something horrible that will kill any momentum we might get, immediately. If we peacefully protest, we'll just get mauled by cops how they did with the BLM protests. If we violently protest, I already know the government will turn the army against the people and just kill us all. And no matter what…

Seeking advice to sabotage my work place

I know, bold title alright, I just need something to catch your eye; I currently work for a company that I fucking hate, but I make good money, and I can’t really afford to not have a job here. I go door to door trying to get people to sign up with us, it’s an internet company obviously. My biggest issue is the way we operate, we’re always told that the top earners in our department make 200k a year, and that we could achieve that too. (Unlikely) it’s a commission based role, and I’m wondering if there would be some way I could sabotage our performance without getting fired. My supervisor makes money when we make sales, so if I don’t make sales he loses out. That’s my end goal. Threaten the hierarchy. Any advice, any questions?

My GM is Overreacting

My GM refuses to pay attention to people's availability. Now, almost every worker has complained and we were told the above today. I have throat surgery on the 24th and I am recovering on the 25th. There is no way in hell that I am showing up on either day.

A rant about how I should’ve known better after reading stories here

Lots of context for this story: I work at a gym, and I used to report to a Fitness Coordinator. She left a year ago, and there was just the manager left. He said he had too much on his plate and asked me for extra help (I got a nice little raise and more hours, which worked great for me). I worked alongside him for about 8 months; and then he left. So there was no one at like mid-management, and they needed someone to take care of day-day changes and make sure the place didn’t go to shit. I got asked if I wanted a higher level role for the summer, it would be a temporary role with the option of moving into a full time permanent position at the end of the summer. As to be expected, they “forgot” that they had offered it to me even…

Should be illegal

I recently I worked for a large company, as a sandwich artist. I say recently, because I quit after the first day. Now, the work itself wasn’t bad. The pay could’ve been better, but it fit the job. The problem, however was parking. You see, this individual branch was in a city. Not a large city, but large enough to be considered a downtown. There was minimal parking, and what parking there was, was paid. I didn’t think this would be an issue at first. Employees of this branch were directed to use a specific parking garage almost two blocks away, and to purchase a parking pass for said garage. The parking pass is $75 a month. Turns out, however, the company doesn’t reimburse the employees. $75 dollars to park is an entire days work. The base per hour was 12, with an added 3 dollars extra per hour average,…

I might get fired but I need some advice first

hello I work at a minimum wage job right now and my manager found some items that I kinda bought myself tucked away in a storage closet. These items are things the facility sells and I bought it for full price rather than our shitty discount. Manager asked me about it I panicked and said I didn’t know. Today, my supervisor informed me the manager is willing to fire the person who possibly stole the items and it’s kinda killing me from the inside. Just a note these items aren’t expensive it’s only like $3. I don’t want the manager to target other employees about it but I kinda don’t want to get yelled at about it. I willing to tell my chill supervisor about it just so the guilt is taken off my shoulders. Am I a a*hole for not saying anything yet?
