Hi all, we are currently living in an apartment that has been all bills paid. We were sent a lease renewal for the new amount and all bills paid. We signed it and so did our leasing office. Well today we found out that they said they never meant to send that and that we are going to have to get electricity on our own. We have been here 5 years and this feels like such a slap to our face. Im sorry if this isn't the right sub. Anything I can do?? Edit: We are in TX Edit: Spelling*

Complete test to apply?
Hi guys, (on mobile) I applied for a position, and they want me to spend 30 minutes for a mathz and written test… What is this, school? Feels ridiculous that I have to take a test in order for them to send me paperwork. Should I go ahead with it? It's $19 an hour (highest paying place in my area for what I do)
So today my truck died on my way to work (I wasn’t watching my fuel gauge lol) and had to call (text) in to work. I’ve also called in two sick days in my time at this company (4 months). It’s a 90 minute commute btw. I plan on quitting soon and going back to school but I wanna stay on good terms so I can use them as a reference. Whenever I call in they just don’t respond and act like it never happened yet I STILL feel guilt. It’s so ingrained into me. Even in emergencies like today I just fear conflict so much. Mind you I’m a large tattooed guy and don’t feel intimidated at work or anything. I try not to care like y’all do but I can’t. Any advice? Enable me
I recently took a job as technician to repair multi-functional electronic devices and was upfront about my limited knowledge about tools, electronics and anything mechanically-related. My now boss, reassured me that “training” would be provided to get me more familiar with what the job entailed. Fast forward to the first week of training, I was told to disassemble my first device and then reassemble it back to fully functional capabilities. Since this was my first time attempting to disassemble anything, it took one whole workday. No big issues there since I followed the instructional video. However, putting things back together was more difficult because it required me to realize that I should have taken photos of everything before the disassembly. Again, no big issue. I decided I would just watch the video except in reverse and follow the movements. After everything was reassembled, I turned it on and of course,…
Bit of a fun one
Late last week my company issued all staff with new employment contracts without any background and requested them back by the following Monday, being a legal/accounting/contract management firm more than a few questions got raised, multiple documents marked up, lawyers engaged and no contracts got signed. Today an email from the CEO with profuse apologies and claims of some unspecified mistake lead to this… But we all picked up a bit of a raise in the process so that’s something lol.. it’s literally my whole job to call out fukery like this.
Scheduled an interview at Applebee’s 1 1/2 weeks in advance. They had some online interview scheduler. Zero contact from a person. Fine, this is 2023, whatever. I made sure to schedule during a time that wasn’t a peak time (230pm). Get there – apparently the manager isn’t there due to an “emergency” (but was back by 330) so I hang around and call at 330 – hey hello, I’m still around if you would like to still do the interview – she proceeds to vent about how they don’t even get notifications with that interview scheduler, how much she hates it, etc etc. Then sounded exasperated when I asked if she would like to reschedule, but she rescheduled it for a couple days from now. I did not even get a phone call from this company. Nothing. So they aren’t getting shit from me 🤷️
I’ve seen it time and time again where people think they’re doing the company or their coworkers a favor by putting in a longer notice to give time for them to find your replacement. Each and every time they were shown the door on that same day. Happened today to a coworker of mine. He’s not even going to a competitor, he’s going to a complete different industry and will be hauling waste products on 18 wheelers. He gave a month notice because he was willing to help train his replacement, we have a kind of steep learning curve in order to be successful at this job. They showed him the door right away. Now instead of his paychecks he will be getting unemployment which is far less. Do YOURSELF the favor and give the very minimum you are comfortable giving for notice.
Hi guys, So I quit my job this Sunday via email to my manager detailing a medical emergency and a hostile work environment as my reasons. I have another job lined up and have accepted it, but I cannot get over this feeling of guilt and paranoia. For context, one of my coworkers has been bullying me for months (yelling at me in front of patients, belittling me, getting in my face, etc) and I just cannot take it anymore. I also blocked everyone from work so nobody can attempt to call or message me, and I feel a sense of freedom. Did I do something wrong? I know I should be proud of upholding my workplace boundaries but I feel so weird and guilty.
