I had an interview at Company D on June 14th, and had orientation on the 16th. Long story short, I wasn't put on the schedule until today after calling the manager, the store, then the district manager. I had an interview at Company B on July 6th, and was able to start on the next day (might be a red flag, but I have bills to pay). I called Company D yesterday to tell them that I quit, then got a call from their district manager. I was asked why I quit when I was trying to get on the schedule for three weeks. I told them that I started a new job a couple days ago. I was told that quitting without notice was rude of me to do, and that I'm now on their do not hire list. Like, I don't know how to explain to them that…

Rant incoming. I’m a member of a 3 person team. Let’s call my coworkers Marie and Zoe. Marie is my boss, and Zoe is a coworker. Zoe has worked here much longer than Marie. Zoe’s former boss retired and Marie took her place. We work in our companies HR department. I started during the height of COVID in 2020. I was in-office. Marie was as well. We wore masks and distanced. Zoe was approved by the owners to be work-from-home because she has small children. Marie and I do not have kids. Come summer of 2022, Zoe had still not returned to office. Despite her children going to school in person again. The owners approved her to be permanently work from home due to her tenure and reputation. To be clear, work from home is AGAINST our company policy. It’s in the handbook. Fast forward a few months later to…
I texted this morning that I was going to be in a little late because I was actually having some stomach issues. But just as I was heading to work, I got a text telling me not to come in and my manager’s manager would call me later and at that point I knew what was about to happen. 2 hours later, they called me let me know I was terminated. Reason for the firing is because I came into work late too many times. But otherwise, they thought I did my job well and I was pleasant. Just another way employers want control over you when you don’t work from home… It was hard to be motivated for work when there’s barely any work to do and it’s the mundane type of work available. I literally would walk into work waiting for work to be assigned to me for…
Wage theft with overtime and holiday pay
Please tell me if im being overdramatic or not but im super pissed off right now and ready to walk out if it didn't mean tanking my finances. For context I work 4, 10 hour shifts a week fri-mon. The pay periods are counted from sun-sat, so my work week is split between them. I'm in WA state if that makes a difference. My company offered time and a half for the Juneteenth holiday. It fell on a Monday, and i came in an hour early and worked 11 hours. I picked up an aditional 10 hour shift that week on Thursday. I worked 51 hours total, 11 of which was on a holiday, so I should have gotten 21 hours of time and a half and 30 hours of regular pay. I was only paid 11 hours of time and a half. Apparently, hours worked on a holiday don't…
no-quit restaurant??
I am in my final week at my current company. I have 55 hours of unused vacation hours “available” to me. I say that because they are dragging their feet on paying it out because I used more than I earned and now owe them hours back. The thing is, I was never provided any sort of earning schedule. The handbook says I accrue vacation days annually. My pay stubs say annual accrual. Now, when I’m trying to leave, they are claiming that I don’t accrue annually and it’s throughout the year. What can I do? What legal action do I maybe try to pursue? This is not an insignificant amount of money for me so I need to get that money. TIA
