SAG/WGA Strike

PSA: If you want to make the studios come to the table and give the guilds a fair deal, then the best way is a general boycott of them. Especially the streamers like Netflix, who is one the main agitators toward the guilds. When their shares take a hit, they will come back to the table quicker. STOP PAYING THEM! that is the only way to effect lasting change.

Fmla? FML

I’ve been with a company for about 10 years, freelance first, then full time. I’ll admit I’ve had plenty of struggles over the years, all culminating to a traumatic event involving police at my house 4 times in 48 hours and my ex going to rehab after locking my kid inside. I asked for time off then but my boss said “unfortunately, no” I’ve been spending the last year and half dealing with divorce court, custody battles, and working my ass off trying to keep my head above water.. when I’d asked for a raise I was offered 12 weeks unpaid leave. I took it, I got help for CPTSD and dealing with narcissists, and am unfortunately still married and dealing with court. I came back and kept hearing “welcome back” like I was on vacation when I was burning through every PTO day I had till they were gone…

Has anyone else experienced a phenomena where work seems to disorient your sense of time?

I've had a few jobs but I'm currently experiencing something that I don't think I've experienced in my working life before. Basically, I feel like work has completely disoriented my sense of time. I struggle to notice the difference between different days. It just feels like I've been working one perpetually long day and the daytimes and night times are just meaningless aesthetics that indicate nothing. Hours have become nothing more than numbers that give me permission to take a break and I can barely remember whatever time I have off. My life feels like its moving at light speed and the only thing I can remember is working. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a name for it? Anything I can do to mitigate it?

Friend of mine is required to memorize the info of 125 people who work for the company that they work for

Basically my friend just got their first job and in their first week they are required to memorize the info of 125 different people who work for the company. They are an assist and the company wants them to know the information instead of using the cheat sheet that is next to them. They are having a difficult time doing this because they are bad at memorizing stuff like this. They told their boss they don’t believe they can do it but the boss said that he did it and therefore they should be able to do it. They also only have by the end of the week to memorize the info before doing a test they must get 100% correct on. Just want to vent this because it is ridiculous. Before you as this is in California

Planning to go back to 9 to 5 but have trauma from past jobs.

Hey there, after 3 years of freelancing. I am thinking of moving abroad to work for a small design agency. Unfortunately, I still have lingering thoughts of “what if I end up hating it here?” My past jobs were toxic, no boundaries, snobs, with mental gymnastics and all that. Idk if I have gained enough mental strength to go through that again. How should I go about this? I think I’m just ready to work with a team.
