Various businesses and organizations have been deceptive for years regarding their workplace routines. Once hired, you will probably encounter the following: “I am unable to find that information right now.” “You will need to ask this question to someone else.” “That’s for you to work on and figure out.” “I wasn’t sure what we would need you to do.” “I can’t find this file. Maybe you deleted it on purpose.” “The way we’re working through this project right now isn’t efficient. Why do you look so angry?” Workplaces also often suffer from chronic understaffing, underpay, overwork, bullying, and miserable conditions.

My company has decided to make us work more days in person than at home. Honestly, my mental health and physical health is affected by going into work. Every day before I have to work in the office, I get so anxious I throw up. I’ve even thrown up at the office (in a secluded place) and had to go home. I’ve tried to communicate this with management, but the people at the top refuse to do anything, since we’re “more productive” at the office. I don’t want to quit; it was hard enough to find this job. But if they continue to neglect my concerns, I don’t know what other choice I have. Please help by suggesting what I could do.

Now that Hollywood is effectively shut down, I think it is important to support these writers and actors. That said, is it unethical to actually go and pay to see a movie in the theater? What do you all think?
My boss asked me to do my coworkers job
I work on marketing and we’re a new team for a growing company. We’ve recently been asked to conduct peer reviews, to review each others work to prevent mistakes. I use these peer reviews to improve our work for a variety of reasons like establishing our authority and expertise in the marketplace. Keep in mind that my coworkers refuse to use tools like grammarly to improve their writing and I’ve had to create a variety of templates that include specifications on how to write so that we’re not alienating our audience. In my most recent peer review, I suggested that my coworker wrote a BLUF statement. A BLUF statement – or bottom line upfront statement – is a just basically a summary. I recommended this based on the fact that my coworkers will only do the bare minimum and anything above and beyond – well, seems like they are complaining…
I was with this company for almost two years. It was my first job after receiving my certification. I was so grateful for the opportunity to break into my field as many have tried and failed. I was told I was an apprentice. A position they start all newbies out in to teach them how to preform the job correctly. It started out fine. Working with a trainer I would do the job and then have them check my work before sending it. However this only occurred for a few months while I was doing only 4 pieces of work a day. One day they said okay we are done checking you. Just release your own work when done. This was not a good idea. To go from 100% checking to 0% checking. The job is very conditional on each part and unique to each piece of work. (I am…
Talk to your coworkers about striking and unionizing. Spread the word. That's all you have to do, and if it catches on you can go with it. Everyone says we can't change anything, but if you're seeing this, literally all you have to do is start talking to your coworkers. Get some dialogue going, and if it catches on then you strike, or form a union (make sure it's a good one and not a shitty one tho.) If it doesn't catch on then I guess just hope your supervisor doesn't hear you've been trying to start shit.

Laid off then asked to volunteer
Hi this is just a rant. I have been employed at my current job for two years, as well as in 2018-2019 previously. About a week ago my coworkers and I learned we are being laid off from our nonprofit museum job. In our little department, 75% of us are being let go at the end of August. Without our knowledge, we had been declared a “financial failure” by an outside consulting firm and were being eliminated due to the museum’s new five year plan. They plan to remain open for one more financial year, and then close in 2025 for renovations. They decided that they only needed a fraction of their staff for the next year, and would instead lean more heavily on their volunteers (of which the numbers are significantly dwindling and aging). So later after HR told us this one by one, I was asked if I…
The inflationary make belief fiat currency is not based in reality because it is not backed by anything real. If dollars or formerly known as bank notes were representative of Gold or Silver, than it would not be possible for our government to get bailed out by some foreign entity known as the Federal reserve who deems themselves God in printing money out of thin air. It's the root of the problem and can be identified as the issue behind the culture and soulless entity today known as work.
