Basically recently my therapist told me I was a bit too strict and stubborn about the choice of job I want or don't want (things I would like to have or thing I will not want) Then to make me think until the next session he asked me this question “What are you willing to sacrifice and bend on your want and needs to be working somewhere?” For me this question is just impossible to answer. Because I am not willing to sacrifice anything just to get a job, because no matter what I can only have access to job that are bad, job that pays under 20$. Hi. Long time lurker. I very much believe in the sentiment of this subreddit. Let me know if this post doesn't fit. I have an opportunity to become a Lead Worker at my job. I've been working there for a year and a half. It's rough but important work so I don't mind it(disability care). I really appreciate my boss, she's a sweet lady, but her boss is difficult. She's very uh… hard to work with. All my coworkers hate her and hate working with her. One of my coworkers snapped a few months ago and called her out on all her bs. That coworker is too important to fire lol. My coworkers talk about how she treats me horribly. I honestly haven't noticed much. She has snapped at me for some dumb things before and made me cry once. But I get enough compliments over my work with the…

I got a job offer. Here are some pros and cons. Pros: Just over 15 an hour with a raise after 4 months. Helping people with substance use and mental health issues (something I've wanted to do since I was a kid). Closeish to home. With a decent company. 40 hours a week, M-F (I think the consistency will really help). PTO-13hrs per month accrual $500 sign on bonus Cons: 5 miles away from home, have to cross a highway to get there by bus. (I don't have a car). Not walkable (but looking into ubers and trying to find friends that could give me a ride) I have to quit or get hours reduced at my two other jobs. Could potentially be triggering I can't think of any other pros and cons right now. But this is my first “big” job, an actual career. An opportunity to feel like…

So I basically never get days off and I needed a day off this weekend. So I’m taking Friday off. I am pretty stressed out from work as it is and my manager doesn’t really believe in taking a day off for yourself so you can get your mind right. So I lied about going on vacation this weekend. Really all I plan to do this weekend is put myself first and relax because these corporations will work you into the ground. Cheers to a stress free weekend!

Update from my last post a few weeks ago. The bullying from my boss has only gotten worse and I am more isolated than ever in my office. My vacation time got denied with no apology or remorse, which is my final straw. I know that my sound ridiculous, but it felt personal especially given my recent history with my boss. This is my annual trip with my father that I’ve been taking for several decades, and every year since I started working at my current job. My friend and co-worker overheard my boss talking to the finance department about how it was “disrespectful and noncommittal” of me to ask for time off. It should be said that I asked if I could work remotely on vacation rather than take time off and she said no. I’m freaking out and I’m so afraid of the repercussions, but I work too…
