Woooo fuck Amazon
Another round of lay offs but at least we got an email this time. “Your roll has been eliminated” this is suck bs.
Applying online doesn't work. Every time I walk in they tell me to apply online. What fucking gives? I'm so fucking frustrated and disheartened with trying to find a job at this point. I live in Austin, and I've been applying like crazy to everything, and I'm getting no responses at all. How the hell is anyone supposed to support themselves like this? Even the job I do have is talking about stopping intermission, which is what I was hired for, and even then I only work two days a week. I'm just so fucking frustrated and depressed. Networking is bullshit, don't tell me that shit.
I know I'm far from the first to post about this, but I need to vent. I'm a content writer with ~10 years of experience under my belt and have been looking for a new position since I got laid off in mid-April. Some of the bullshit I've come across blows my mind. Writing samples/tests are pretty standard but some of these folks are just asking too much for too little One company wanted a two-hour exam on top of writing samples and a portfolio. It was a p/t temp position that paid $20/hour and didn't start until August. Another company's application contained 10 essay questions most of which could've been answered by looking over my resume. The rest were personal questions like “What podcasts do you listen to,” or “Who is your favorite author,” and my favorite “What feeds your soul?” After that they sent out a 4-question “survey”…
$15,000 pay cut
I’ve worked at a company since January as a temp worker. During my time here I’ve been waiting for a permanent position and was told they were trying to get approval for the past 7 months. In that time, they have hired two people with less experience than me one role above entry level (which is the level my skills/experience are at). In addition to that 3 more people at the same level as me were hired in this time because of turnover or other reasons. The first one was hired the same month my contract got renewed and is on my direct team. I’m told they’re still trying to get approval. ok that’s fine. Someone on our same team (but different focus) quit, and they reached out to hire a friend of mine and I gave them advice one whether or not they should take it. I used to…
While I think that money should and probably is the main thing people look for before taking the job, I would argue that when you take a job and do it well there should be praise. A lot of times I notice that people seem to quit is either because of lack of pay and stress. Stress can be resulted from doing more than you should and even just having your good work be ignored. They seem to have no problem bringing up all your mistakes and issues that they have with you. That can lead to a lot of unhappy employees and be the final “nail on the coffin” to want to quit.
I'm about to job hop from my current job, because even though I made significant improvement in my work, I was still placed on the PIP, because it wasn't “good enough”. I guess you could say I'm somewhat fairly new to my profession, but for as long as I've been in the industry, I've just seen different companies operate with rather piss poor management, and the burden falls upon me to work around disorganized people. It took me a while to get it through my thick skull that how my higher ups conduct themselves are not the ways to go. I'm currently reaching out to different people that I spoke to months before I was hired to my current company. I did actually put in the effort recently to do some research and it seems like they're paying more than my current employer and they're not too far from each…
I was on vacation with the family last week and we stopped at a little cafe for lunch. The only other patrons were a couple of guys talking in the corner. It was quiet, so while I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop, they also weren’t whispering. It was clear that they were involved in some kind of construction or manual trade and were supervisors or foreman. What struck me most was the way they talked about wanting to help their guys. They were openly complaining about the state of their industry and how so many people are taken advantage of. They were discussing ways they could ensure that their guys got good insurance, competitive pay, and solid retirement plans. One said if he won the lottery he’d give all his guys $1M each and say “go have fun. Learn new things and come back in a year and we’ll build a…
Raise or I’m walking
Well, I did it, I asked for a raise from my part-time job and if I do not get it I will be putting in my two weeks. I am past my breaking point for this job. What was your breaking point for leaving a job? More Info: I currently work 2 jobs, one full-time (admin) and one part-time (social media and marketing manager). I am able to work on my downtime and breaks during my admin job (both companies know about this so no it's not wage theft). My admin job is low-stress and I have at least a few hours of downtime throughout the week where I can get my other tasks done. Sounds great right? The one issue is that I am being severely underpaid at my part-time job, on top of severe burnout from this job particularly. Why I have dealt with it for so long-…
