I feel stuck. I just asked to go home for half of my work day because I didn’t have much I could do until later. While that is fully true another big reason I had to leave was because I can’t stand my coworkers. Everyone that works the front half shift is insufferable. Like this morning. My favorite server put in her notice last week. This Sunday was supposed to be her last day. She’s 72 years old & doesn’t need to work but she wants to & she does a great job. They’ve been harassing her coaxing her to quit. Writing her up for nothing & berating her. They pulled her off the floor 10 minutes into her shift to fire her. She was already leaving at the end of the week but they cut her off early. It’s fucking sick. They’re just awful people & I can’t stand…
Mid level WFH manager
Work from home is great. Min wage in my area is $15 and work from home min wage is $17. Went for 3 interviews for a work from home call center. Did online tests and screenings. First day of training over conference call they announce that thier software only works on the newest equipment. Requires $1,200 phone. Webcam. Gigabit internet. And company won't reimburse for expenses. Fine for a $28 hr job but not a $17 hr min wage job. WFH companies not providing equipment for thier employees to do the job. /:
They’re onto us, fam.
When I say it gets hot in there, it's unbearable. Especially next to the grills, and it's July, so it's not exactly cold outside. And of course, if you saw my other post a while back, we still don't get any breaks, so I barely have time to get a drink, I go into the freezer as often as I can. I come home drenched in sweat and dehydrated, hell I called in today cause it's supposed to be hot and humid out and I can't stand it. My boss said I “Put them in a bad position” Well, fix the fucking AC then. We'll see what kind of bad position you're in cause someone definitely anonymously contacted OSHA
I have been thinking A LOT about this recently. I've seen the surface reasons for why a company would oppose WFH but I don't really buy that as the entire reason. It's more than just about real estate, “face time”, or helping the new hires acclimate better. The opposition to WFH is because WFH challenges the culture of fear that is used to keep workers working, underpaid, and stuck. It's like companies are mostly all indirectly in collusion with one another because they see and know the threat of working at home. It shifts the power that is almost entirely stacked at the feet of the employer over to the worker. They don't care about productivity. They mostly care about the veneer of productivity with an actual prerogative of control and to a certain extent: demoralization. If you are demoralized you will more easily lose sight of your value and…
Sorry you invested in something that is no longer relevant. Happens all the time. Quit crying about it.
I just had a bank tell me “no, your credit's great! what were you worried about?” I said I have two medical accounts in collections. The agent immediately replied “yep I see that but balances under $500 don't count.” I will never be giving those two accounts another thought! I thanked her for sharing that debt pro-tip with me and would just like to pass it along. Obviously your results may vary but it's been a couple months now and my FICO score just keeps going up.
