So I’m an intern who wants full time at the company. I was assigned a project with another intern. But she…. She likes to get things done fast and do a lot more work. Like for example, we have to label 1000 images each. The manager and other supervisors told us to take our time because there are too many images. The intern I’m working with wants to do this in 2 DAYS!!!! It’s possible but jeez…. Also, when we were setting up our computers, she wanted it done super fast which I get. The other coworkers were gone on a business trip and we were kind of stranded. But she just had to figure out a way to set up the computers even though me and other interns were trying to do other stuff (networking, learning about company etc). Also, it hasn’t even been 2 weeks since we started.…
Now, we have robots, AI, and 3-D printing. That means we could be working much less, part-time, none at all, or we could pursue our own interests. We could have collectives, profit sharing, and more. We have had unprecedented change and uncertainty in the past few decades because of tech. We deserved so much better.
I'm pretty sure he has a quality mind in terms of reasoning, problem-solving and processing information. If he was considered dumb, I shudder to think how the rest of us are viewed by some of these people. Or, perhaps those are games of power.
I would rather not try to find out if that’s worth my time and effort. One could browse data and research on SEO, but there are still plenty of ways things could turn out with less-than-stellar results. How many people want to create lengthy blogposts for a small or no audience, and hope that over the months some people will notice that the blog is worth reading or following? Of course, for some local and established organizations this could be useful (oftentimes very useful). But for personal initiatives on more abstract topics, a blog might not pertain to specific location or trends. Or, people may already have other blogs and magazines they read that cover those topics. Then how does one attract an audience? This takes a lot of time and effort to find out.
New Approach to Class Warfare
Not entirely sure this is appropriate or allowed, and if it is not I’d very much like advice or direction on where to float this idea, and ideally expand on it. Again I get the feeling this subreddit is geared more towards above ground methods which i am also interested in, but I don’t think we should be limited to. My question and need for advice pertains to a new theory or approach to class warfare. IMO picketing, voting and even starting unions is quickly becoming a non-starter. Our political parties are bought and paid for as are our state legislatures and many of the federal agencies that make rules pertaining to labor and policy. Much like actual warfare has changed numerous times over the millennia and centuries, i think it is time to start thinking and strategizing on how to change class warfare on the part of the working…
Not fired. I guess. I had already put in my two weeks notice. But the shitty retail job I was working for cut all my hours the day before my last, out of nowhere. They didn’t even tell me. I got a notification from our scheduling app. When I asked them about it they dismissively said I had made a mistake today and that was the consequence. I worked for these people for 5 months and they just toss me aside like garbage. On my fucking birthday no less. You can’t make this shit up. I don’t even get the chance to say goodbye to my coworkers.
I make barely enough money to get by. It's honestly pathetic how I've never made above 10 bucks an hour. I have tried to get my ged but right now it's just not possible for me. I have a long history of trauma that I will not get into. When it comes to working it's easier for me because usually there is a routine with specific tasks that I can learn how to do quickly. With school it's more difficult since I frequently have to switch gears. And trust me, I have tried. I don't need anyone telling me i need to try harder. Now, I do to some degree like working. It has a routine as I stated, and it gets me up and moving which keeps me from laying in bed all day. For a while I was okay with not making that much money. (I'm 19 now)…
I work at a Walgreens and my store lead managers say that they don't have the budget to hire more people or give more hours (so a lot of us are working partime technically. Managers, pharmacy tech, and floor staff all work overtime to get things done. They don't take their 15 min breaks they are entitled to or during their lunch break they work even though they are clocked out. How to I tell my coworkers to work their designated hours, because if they work overtime to get things done, then district management doesn't see a store struggling. If the district managers don't see a store struggling, they don't give that store a budget to hire new staff members. I have genuinely good people working at my store, they take care of their families, they volunteer, they are veterans, they make art of many kinds, they offer compassion and…
The lack of context and meaning in online spaces is concerning. On some content sites there are tens of thousands of articles. On some craft sites there are tens of thousands of products to choose from. We need sites that have more of a specific focus.
