Two security guards got fired from my job for the dumbest reason

I work at a hotel that also leases to a company helping homeless immigrants. Since March we had two security guards hired, and they would work two to three shifts in a row and work everyday. Two of the homeless people coordinators get away with banging in the rooms when they feel like it, but the two security guards can’t take a fifteen minute nap during their break in one of the rooms? One of the younger security guards panicked once a hotel resident was being a Karen saying,”You’re not supposed to use them rooms.” (This Karen is the most annoying white privileged racist trouble maker with no life in this building). So the security guard jumped off a two story balcony like an idiot. The other one didn’t. The one who jumped cried to management saying please don’t fire me. He threw the other under the bus saying they…

Boss is driving the business into the ground. I feel stuck and don’t know what to do. Looking for advice.

Long time lurker, first time poster. This will be long winded, so apologies in advance. I’m a 29 year old married male who has been working full time since I moved out at 18. I’ve been in the automotive field for 6+ years and have quickly gotten VERY good at what I do. My wife and I are expecting our first child any day now. My wife works from home and has a $95k/yr job. We have no car payments. Just our mortgage and utilities. I’ve been at a powdercoating/wheel shop for about 3 years. Started at 18/hr, about a year and a half in I was at 22/hr. I’m still at that pay, however I’ve since become the manager. I’m not only in charge of all the powdercoating (a type of painting for those who don’t know), but I’m responsible for making sure everyone else has work to do,…

Pension Plans are a joke

I gave 10% of my earnings to Manulife for 12 years and in the last 2 years, I've lost 30% of my contributions and I have to keep calling them to send my statements. No one is ever around to take my calls and try to fix my investments. Now, I'll be lucky to make $350 a month when I turn 65. Nevermind, when I lost my job and subsequently my house, the most they would give me OF MY OWN MONEY was 1 month mortgage payment. Getting anyone to take my phone calls to reinvest into a different plan is impossible. I have $200k, that in this present day scenario, I can never touch, but was costing me nearly $350 every paycheck. I could have used that money to give me a leg up now. I can hardly see myself living to 65 right now, so chances are I'll…

Any ideas for someone looking to make a mid-life career change?

I’ve been working in the grocery business since I was 16 years old. I’m currently an assistant store manager and I’m burning out I’ve been working in the grocery business since I was 16 years old. I’m currently an assistant store manager and I’m burning out quickly. I mostly stayed with one chain for most of my career. I have been offered a store manager role but passed on it for a few different reasons. I have an associate degree and a Bachelor’s in psychology from a good college. I have a mortgage and kids. I think $50,000 a year is the bear minimum to keep my head above water. I feel stuck where I am because most entry level jobs start at less than that. Oh, and our compensation package is awful (no 401k match, extremely high insurance premiums (over $150 a week for myself, spouse, and dependent) and limited…
