I have given my notice this week and I was told by my maanger straight away that I am not allowed to tell my co-workers that I am leaving for the next 10 working days. Has anyone come across anything like that or is this made up?

2 week notice issues
So I quit my retail job today and gave 2 week notice. It’s $16/hr with “tips” (after taxes I get about $17 an hour average). When I was hired they promised me 5 days a week and shifts at their cafe next door but then those shifts never opened up and I’m stuck with 3 days per week. I should’ve quit a few months ago but i didn’t have a job lined up so I had to take the loss of hours. So now i finally did it, but I requested off the week of June 29-July 5th long ago and I’m also covering for someone whos gone and working her hours. Anyways they want me to stay 3 weeks bc that week I requested off “doesn’t count.” For me , two weeks is two weeks. Those shifts are covered like idk why they want another week? My new job…
Low income buying a house
Ok I’m on disability for a chronic disease and I don’t make much money. I have section 8 which helps pay my rent but I want more out of life. I read that there’s a program that allows people with Section 8 buy a house; The Housing Choice Voucher. Well I’m in L.A. and was told by HUD that the program is closed due to insufficient funds, but I also was told by a realtor that the program is active. This realtor was supposed to email the info but she always forgets to do so. So I figured I’d reach out to you guys to see if anyone has any info. Owning my home would open so many doors for me. I’m open to buying my home the traditional way with getting a job (even though that will effect my government insurance that pays for my 10K a month medicine.…
It’s Very Negotiable
I've never been scheduled to work on Sundays practically since I started, and our posted schedule is never accurate, so I don't even look at it. I'm off the same 2 days every week. I've never laughed so hard at a text. He hasn't started the negotiations, but I'll settle for triple time as pay.
Paychecks contain no info
I have a side gig working trade shows. I actually like it. The pay is decent $18 an hour, plus I get an extra hour for travel, and $50 if I set up and $50 if I tear down. I also get “commissions” if people fill out comment cards. And I like the job. It's fun to work trade shows. I get time to enjoy them and what I do is fun. I like talking to people all day. And I literally tell them the days I want to work. It is the perfect side job for me. However, my check concerns me. It just lists my pay as a flat rate of “Commission” and a set dollar amount. No listed hours. No notation if I was paid for set up and clean up. No listing of commissions. I have no idea how much taxes, or if any taxes, are…
A guest specifically asked to speak with my manager on Friday which he wasn’t around, I get a message from him today stating that he would like me to come in earlier tomorrow to discuss my progress review. Does this mean that I’m getting fired? I’m so anxious and scared. I need this job & have nothing else to help me survive. Has anyone else had a progress review meeting? Pls help I’m freaking out. I had an injury last week, & didn’t come in on Monday, have had two bad reviews about me. Does this mean that I’m getting fired? Please someone help understand what a progress review means?
my mom always talks about how she had a serving job while in college and was able to pay for school by herself. at the time, the minimum wage was $3/hr ?! i guess she also got tips but it was southwest missouri in the 90s — can’t imagine the tips were THAT good. my partner and i live together in a one bedroom apartment and both work retail and also uber on the side. she makes $15/hour and i make $16/hr. we can BARELY cover the cost of rent and our very minimal bills. some people can’t even land a job at all — if they submit an application online, it gets lost in the incredibly over saturated stack of applicants. if they go into the store, the employees/managers just say to go online. it’s nearly impossible to even get in for an interview at these jobs, let alone…
I'm giving my two weeks at the end of this week. How do I make sure that if he does this that I'm able to get unemployment for termination? If there's some legal terminology I should know it would be helpful going in so I know what to say to him when he reacts this way.
