Just what the headline says. I straight up can't find a satisfying answer online. They often just say that a CEO basically just makes big decisions and is the top of the hierarchy. That's not a job description though.

What does a CEO do, really?

Hey guys, wanting to know if this “you clocked in three minutes early (allowed everywhere else I've worked, up to 5 minutes early) and 4 minutes late (because I was physically unable to clock in even though my boss witnessed me arrive on time) so I'm writing you up and taking away a half hour of pay for each” is actually legal or not. I'm autistic and I've already had a meltdown today, plus I barely slept, so I'm not really able to research this myself right now. Our boss is also constantly requiring us to stay late to finish the cleaning checklist and meet sales goals, so I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to do about that. I'd leave things unfinished, but she threatens write-up and rages about that, too. This is a chain retail store in the US.

For context I’m a pharmacy tech (22F) and have been working at this pharmacy for nearly 4 years since I was 18. This happened two days ago. I saw that a doctor sent in a medication for a child that was really expensive and we didn’t have it in stock, so I called the phone number on the prescription and the mother picked up. It’s not a common medication, and the cash price for a one month supply said over $4,000, so I wanted to call to inform the family. Me: Hey I noticed your doctor sent in a prescription for your son and I just wanted to let you know it’s really expensive and we don’t have it, would you like me to call the doctor and ask for something else? Mother: Why are you leading with the price? I was confused so I said: I’m sorry? Mom: So…

Our small downtown area is dying out
As many here can guess for the reason, a new property owner bought out a few of the buildings the stores leased. Naturally to recoup his costs quicker the rents were raised. Now 8 stores have left the market area, meaning we are slowly approaching 25% vacancy rate. I am genuinely curious who will replace these stores since the rates are now way to high. Similarly, we have a converted freight yard that is a converted food court losing restaurant since their rents went up as well. Honestly, the investment and property investment needs to be heavily regulated and limited through tiered taxes.
Friends getting laid off from Disney
Have a few friends get laid off from Disney. Very high up. Very well paid. Also in positions that cannot be replaced. They were given 30 day severances. I’ve tried to ask them so many times why can’t all the 10s of 1000s being laid off by them band together in class action suit to sue them as they’re making 100s and 100s of billions in profit. They told me it’s impossible to sue them. Got me so bummed over this holiday week. Makes no sense why no govt entity especially in California can’t take them to court. Ugh I hate it here.
I quit my job and have nothing lined up.
Title says everything. I put in my resignation and after next Friday I will not be working. My job was awesome – paid well at $108k + mileage, and I loved my boss. The problem was the drive was starting to physically tire me out…at MINIMUM I would drive an hour and a half to work everyday and this has been going on for 4+ years. My wife and I have a son now too which has drastically complicated things, and I owe it to him to be more present. After several long discussions with my wife, we've decided to just end this job and find another closer to home. I plan on doing a bunch of home projects, playing with my son more, cooking more meals, and just being happier in general. I'll go back to work somewhere in a couple months but for now I'm grateful to have…
