So, to start, we are moving buildings. I work in our “warehouse” as a analyst. However, every time I am introduced to someone new/vendors/clients outside of the company, my coworkers and boss refer to me as a manager. I have been raising hell that I am not a manager. Give me the pay. Give me the title. We'll take later. That aside, no one has asked our department about our shipping needs or requirements. I (24 F) started texting this lady (65 F) over a book club that we met in and she told me that she had a job offer. She gave me a bunch of tasks to do and never paid me. She then got annoyed that I wouldn't do the tasks anymore as “nothing works in these days without money”. Then she told me I kinda had to be an assistant to her when she started her creative writing workshop and I have been managing a joint sm account with her where I do all the work and I'm the face of. The account blew up and I started getting job offers to teach English by people near me and ad money. I took it as she wasn't doing any of it it's mine. Then she gets mad at me for bailing on her when she has been dangling this job…

So I work food service part time, and my boss is upset with me over a couple little things, which are all things that my manager told me to do. Things like sweeping the floors “too early”, taking out the trash “too early”. I've been employed here for over a year, but I'm a college student and this is my job back home, so I've been gone for a couple of moths at school. Management is super hands off and horrible with communication. This instance of them being upset with me is the first I've heard from them since I've been back (for two months). On top of the little things, they watched back hours of security camera footage and are upset that I “didn't smile enough”. They were upset with my manager over the same thing. I work at a hostel chain. it's a great job. i sit pretty at a desk, check in international hotties, online shop etc. but oh god the night shift. the night shifts are from 10pm to 8am. i have an endless supply of shit that's happened while I'm on shift; break ins, armed robberies, Jeff bezoz drunk on hand sanitizer in my bed. basically we're given the phone and can go to bed, anyone off the street can call for any rhyme or reason. we do this for $50AUD a shift. hours just got reduced, so we're there from 8pm to 8am. and yes we don't get paid anymore. we got another boss working now, so the shifts on reception before this used to be 5-7 hours. now they are just 2. I have to travel 40 minutes for a 14 hour shift and I don't even make $100 AUD.…

For additional context, my job is commission only so I don't make any money when I take a day off. I had the 4th of July off because the business was closed, and then today was supposed to be my regular day off as I always have Wednesday off. Instead I got an angry message this morning wondering where I was… and I said that it was my day off. They said I never asked for this day off which made no sense because it is my regular day off, though apparently I was supposed to “make up” for missing Tuesday. I understand this in a way if you are on salary (though you should still get seperate paid vacation!) but I literally have nothing to make up. Now, before anyone says anything I know that not all older employers are jerks but many are. Nor is this a pro employer post. I am trying just trying to compare someone who I know is a fairly good business owner to a bad one. For context, I have a very dear friend who inherited 2 auto shops from her dad which was great since it was her dream, but the dream wasn't all that great. Her dad by his own admission, was an asshole to work forb/c he has the mindset of Iam going to get and keep mine at all costs which makes some sense considering he was forced to flee South Vietnam but as he got older it got worse.
