i work at a pretty well sized clothing retailer and the building i work at has no air conditioning, causing me (a heat sensitive individual) to pass out at work. nothing was done about this, they even wanted me to continue my shift after the incident. now with the current wildfire situation north of us the building is retaining so much heat. pretty sure our ventilation system is shot too. i’m not allowed to wear shorts and they don’t even pay us a livable wage. i just really needed to vent bc it’s so bleak being here.

I’m currently waiting on two, soon to be three checks. One of my unpaid checks is legit from early May! I’ve followed up many times with my invoice and dates of service. I’ve been working at this place for almost 8 weeks and have only received one check! Should I sue? Contact the department of labor?
Not feeling valued
The director of the construction company I work for has sent me a meeting invite for all supervisors for 2:00pm Friday. Thing is I’m on permanent night shift I start my week on Sunday night. If I worked day shift it is the equivalent of me waking up at 2:00am and on Saturday and logging in to attend the meeting. The director doesn’t rate me as a supervisor. My tittle is only junior supervisor. At Christmas I wasn’t entitled to the same payment as the other supervisors cause apparently it didn’t apply to me cause I am only a junior supervisor. It was out of fear of me leaving that they paid me. This is the first invitation to a meeting I have received in the 18 months that I have worked here. So the fact I miss the first one doesn’t bother me. At my review I argued that…
Time card rounding is BS
didn’t realize my employer was basically stealing time from me. I honestly don’t see how it benefits the worker. The employee can be held responsible if they’re late. I had to work 7 minutes late last night only to realize I wasn’t getting paid lol.
I got my 1.5 year review yesterday…
To preface, I am a hazmat certified warehouse laborer. They rated me a 4.6 out of 5 on their little scoring sheet. Every topic for performance was marked either excellent or satisfactory. They told me I'm doing a really good job and my numbers are fantastic. I go above my quota a lot of the time because I work so quickly. I get my hands on as many smaller orders as possible. Even though I'm doing more than the required quota and there is little I can actually improve on, they want me to do more larger orders because I'm not making them enough money. I am supposed to process 12 orders a day and I usually do anywhere between 13-16. I am thinking about taking a malicious compliance route. Picking small orders worth thousands of dollars and picking bigger orders worth less than a grand and taking my time…
I work in a US owned company in the UK, in a warehouse. It’s a small shopfloor team, 3 of us, but we’re pretty much spot on with absolutely everything in the works. Today, a mass email from a hybrid working colleague in sales came through, CC’d, the American managers about how he wants to litter pick at our place and around our industrial estate as part of keeping our community clean. Oh, and that he’s going to buy some litter pickers and wants us to do the same. And something about his beliefs in keeping the area tidy. Well, the works already do do our own yard and around our unit. And we already have litter pickers. And my belief is I’m not working unless I’m being paid. Not only has he brown nosed he’s also snubbed us in the process. Bollocks to him and anyone that falls for…
Boss’s new decoration
I get this isn't necessarily antiwork, however i feel this is the place to post it. Hopefully the mods and bots agree. The left – right spectrum is deceiving and the deception is pushed. Capitalism has nothing to do with it. Socialism has nothing to do with it. Communism has nothing to do with it. Patriotism has nothing to do with it. Guns, gender, sexuality, skin tone and the barrage of other noises have nothing to do with it. Some religious folks are 'right' as they do want a totalitarian theocracy. Cult of persona is the same difference as they want their person in control. Things become clearer when you see the political spectrum this way, in my opinion. I think many people label themselves 'right' because they don't understand what their choice is, or could lead to. What say you fine redditors, does it make more sense to label…
