The big incentive for June
Was asked to sit in on an executive meeting reviewing the performance targets for June (just to play slide master given it’s far too laborious for leadership to hit display and click a mouse but hey I’ll take it…) The COO was particularly excited to announce the new incentive for office (US branch of a European based furniture company) if we hit June sales targets. Multiple references throughout the presentation was getting me excited. What could it be? This must be something worth it! 20 minutes later and the big prize is…a pizza party! I recently had a group meeting with a more senior person in my company. The senior person was telling our group of relatively new employees how to move up within the company. And one of the ways was to get more face time with the higher ups, such as by proactively going to group meetings with directors of our company so that they’d remember us when it’s time for promotion. My coworker asked the senior person a question that went something like “isn’t it enough that I just do my job and do it well? Why do I need to do this extra stuff?” And our whole group was silent. It was a fantastic moment. I’ve noticed younger coworkers going against the norm as well. In another meeting there was mention of us going back to in person. Employer Gave Me Two Weeks
I was notified I was being let go with the option to keep working another two weeks. Would I be disqualified from unemployment if I don’t continue working? I’m in Virginia.
Hello, I just wanted to put this out there because I am freaking out about what my life is going to look like tomorrow. Tomorrow I have a meeting with my boss and it appears HR (they are not in the meeting invite but seem to all have a long meeting together). The meeting is titled “team checkin” but my coworker and I are separated. Our boss, who is usually open and honest about things has said he can’t divulge anything until tomorrow mornings meeting. He says he sent the meeting invite tonight because he wanted to make sure the time was blocked, and that he didn’t want to cause anxiety. Overall I have done well on performance reviews, I have been here around a year and a half and have a pretty full workload over all.
