How to escape capitalism in the UK?
I'm not anti-work, I'm anti neoliberal capitalist BS work that only serves to make somebody else wealthy at the expense of my health and plummeting living standards Vs rampant inflation. I thought working in non-profit sector vs private sector would be different but in many ways it is worse, most charities in the UK have been taken over by predatory elites who pay themselves ridiculously high salaries, pensions and performance bonuses with lower scrutiny than in shareholder companies. My charity CEO earns £450k plus huge pension and bonuses. His bloated exec team are on £150k+ and same bonuses and huge pensions . They justify low pay and high workloads for employees as “we are a charity” but don't apply this rule to themselves. Like execs in private sector organizations, they do barely any work that has any value – mostly photo opportunities and sleazy deals to help out their mates,…
Not all companies are trying to keep you down and we should acknowledge that there are some good places to work. I see too much negativity here that I'm starting to think it becomes a perceived mindset going into a place of work with planning to fail from the very start. My company trains 18-22 year olds how to be welders, pay a fair rate while they train ($19/hr) and then bump in pay ($23/hr) after completing their schooling certification (nothing of this they pay for) give 100% medical coverage at 0 cost to the employee. At then end of their first year they get bumped again ($24/hr). They can get paid more outside of the annual CoL pay increase based on skill level and more certifications but that's up to them. They get the same standard breaks as everyone else in the industry 15 mins break, 30 mins lunch,…
Same like your boss sending you to HR
So HR no longer likes me
Today I was caught by head of HR when I clocked in and brought to the conference room out of no where. I was very confused and asked why I was being fired (because naturally given the big boss and my sections Big boss and head of HR were in there with me that’s where my brain went). I was told I’m not being fired, but we need to get to the bottom of a situation. For reference I’m new, just got off training 2 weeks ago and was only hired in late April level of new. I had zero idea there was anything to get to the bottom of, so I clammed up and waited to be told more. After some beating around it, they finally said it has come to their attention I dislike a coworker; and since we are a “family” here, that’s not going to fly.…
Which choice will you make?
What he means by team work – is you willingly training your cheaper replacement as they absolutely will lay you off the first chance they get. Better to never ever be on a team. It benefits only the CEO. Plus no one wants to go to work and have to associate with senior managements personality disorders.
