I just started a new job and the training has been an absolute cluster fuck. They've been jamming obscene amounts of information at us and I doubt anyone could absorb all that. During training I raised some concern about retaining all of this once I started actually doing the job and I was told not to worry and that I'd get plenty of help. I pick up pretty quickly with supported hands on learning so I was ok with that answer. Last week they decided I'm ready to go solo despite me protesting and saying I wasn't. Instead of listening to me they handed me a client and said go. For the past week I've been doing my best with what I have and communicating with the other trainees, but we still couldn't do it. Any time we would go to our trainer or management and ask for more help…
Resigned from goverment job
So I just resigned from one of the most toxic jobs I have ever had, ironically it is with the Federal Goverment. Surprising, right? The job consist of the following: ○ A part-time position with full-time expectations ○ Constantly on call; not getting paid for it ○ Gaslighting management; will flat out lie to your face; awful out-of-touch boomer management, “nobody wants to work” mentality, realizing that nobody wants to work for THEM ○ Imorale and improper practices; blatantly ignoring written policies, lying on administrative paperwork, lack of integrity ○ Severe understaffing; employees doing the job of 3 people because of budget cuts ○ Always pissed off patrons because they aren't getting the service they got before budget cuts were made ○ Toxic work environment; employees have full on breakdowns and are crying at work daily. Management then will tell us in meetings how “fun” our jobs are I could…
No student debt relief.
What did my husband get? A $1 raise and some barbecue once a week. Tell me again how college is “a bad choice that people need to take responsibility for,” and not the rampant amount of white collar fraud that just went down for 2 years. Make it make sense. On a lighter note, I helped the hubs get a much better job. The old job calls him periodically like an old flame because they're falling apart and laying off staff because of it. Brace yourselves. The recession is about to fucking suck but punk rock's about to get awesome again.
Boss wants to mandate my pee breaks
Work in an extremely busy retail pharmacy that doesn't have enough hours to appropriately staff. You know the drill. We don't get our 15 min breaks because leaving the pharmacy for 15 minutes is so detrimental to the flow of work everything has gone down the toilet in the short time we're gone. We literally haul ass nonstop all day long and only get to sit down for 20 mins when the pharmacy shuts down for lunch. I have endometriosis on my bladder. It causes pain and I pee every 1-2 hours because a full bladder is so painful. My boss wants me to stop taking to many 2 minute bathroom breaks. I just looked at her dead in her face and said “ok. I'll just start taking my 15 minute breaks instead” She backed down.
Why is no one taking to the streets?
**Mods- please remove if necessary. I'm not trying to start an uprising or anything, but after all the shit that the SCOTUS is pulling why aren't people protesting in the US? They ended affirmative action in education and just ruled that student loan forgiveness is illegal. What the actual fuck? We need to remove all justices on all levels who were appointed by a criminal POTUS immediately after he is convicted. We need to have a general strike. https://generalstrikeus.com/
I can’t say I’m shocked given everything we have learned about SCOTUS’s lack of integrity, but the reality of the decision to undo the previously promised plan to cancel debt has me completely gutted. Like what can those of us who aren’t gonna be able to make payments work do when it restarts? I thought for a brief glimpse that someone in this fucking country gave a shit. I feel stupid for thinking it could ever happen
Affirmative action was needed in America since minorities were disenfranchised for decades; they needed a ladder to climb out of the hole that they were pushed into by white people of the past. Supreme court has struck AA down and while I'm upset I also think we need a new type of affirmative action that the latter should have prioritized; class status. Minority groups in America tend to be of low socio economic status so by focusing an affirmative action type policy we would simultaneously bring in Minority groups and lower status white groups into higher education; it's class solidarity.
