Morning shift vs afternoon

Is it normal for morning shift in a warehouse to be absolutly useless? Ive worked in 3 warehouses with morning and afternoon shifts and at all of them morning has been tits on a bull. And its worse when the managers in the office cover for them. Again, its happened at all 3. They cant wrap pallets to save their lives, they flat out refuse to problem solve, or report said problems, they always take the easy jobs and leave the hard stuff for us, and we never get recognised for it.

First job.. food service.

I had my second day today training at Starbucks and fuck it’s stressful. I’ve had a non corporate job before working on a ranch and absolutely loved it. Hard work, but so rewarding. But honestly I’m already considering quitting. My manager is a corporate robot who’s idea of empathy is spewing out company moto’s of leaving emotional problems at the door. He’s so inflexible and won’t listen to me when I tell him what I need in order to excel. Today I started crying whilst talking with him because my wrist was partially dislocated due to strain from the previous day (I have a ligament disability that can cause subluxation) and I was asking for a break so I could shift it back into place. He ended up going on a tangent about mistakes I’ve made so far. He expects me to be a robot like him, and I can’t…

Anyone else just feeling done? What did you do about it, or to atleast cope with it?

I'm honestly at the point where I just don't care anymore about much of anything as its just a complete and utter waste of time. The whole point of working is to afford a place to live, food and transportation to not die with enough left over to retire and enjoy life a little in between yet regardless of whatever education, skills, or experience you have just surviving off of one salary is not possible anymore. Even with multiple degrees, one of which is a masters in one of the most in demand fields, multiple certifications and years of experience I can't even afford an apartment by myself let alone a car to replace my college clunker from years ago or actually eat more than once a day. Seeing a doctor is a fantasy let alone actually taking preventative measures for the cancer that wiped out most of my family…

Kickfin

My serving job started using kickfin. For anyone who doesn’t know Kickfin is a website that ‘helps’ restaurant workers get their tips. Employees can either pick to have a dollar removed every night from their tips (and get it instantly sent to your bank account), or have the money accumulate till the next pay cycle (so in my case every two weeks). I picked the every two weeks option because a dollar every shift I work adds up to a lot of money over time. My boss comes up to me today and tells me that I can’t do that anymore because they can’t tax that money or something? I’m just confused and upset because now I’m just giving my dollar to some random company that doesn’t even need to be in the mix for no reason? The paper I originally signed for the app only gave them permission to…

am I being lazy?

So I just started at my new retail job 3 weeks ago and for the past 5-6 days I've had to work open to closes all by myself all day, no other workers. We reduced our hours to accommodate but it's still 8-9 hour shifts all alone for a week straight. I know 40 hours a week is normal but my days off aren't consistent and I'm standing all day because it's retail. We get slammed on Saturdays and I have to do 5 different jobs at once. Maybe it's just being by myself that's getting to me but it's destroying my mental health but I'm worried this is what the real world is like and I'm just a lazy POS. There are others at a nearby store who are also working a ton of hours but they at least have a second person with them a lot of the…

Toxic air working conditions

The air in the Midwest and the east coast is categorized as “unhealthy” and scaled as such on the AQI (Air Quality Index). I work in a restaurant with a small patio. Can my employer require me to work outside in these conditions? Furthermore, it’s a small part of our restaurant (about 8 tables). I would like to convince management to close the patio section until the air quality improves for the health of all my co-workers. What kind of resources can I access to make this happen. It wouldn’t be a large loss of revenue due to the fact that most people are choosing to dine inside anyway.
