I made a post in /jobs saying how 15 days PTO for the company I was interviewing for felt criminal. The point of the post was to say how PTO in the US majorly sucks compared to other countries. Most comments were essentially saying I should be “grateful” I have PTO at all, what do I even need more than 15 days off for, called me “entitled”, and how others have barely any. Like I’m sorry I want to rest and live my life? Sorry I don’t want to be a corporate slaves and sell my life for profits. I don’t wanna work til I’m 65, then feel like I can finally live. Call me entitled for wanting to do things with my life I guess. Honestly, I’m baffled at the comments! I feel sad for the commenters that they’re scraping by with nothing and it seems like they’re brainwashed…

Establish an LLC and mark large employment gaps as being a contractor. Embellish side projects as your experience for that LLC (make sure you can back it up on an interview). Your background check will verify your LLC. The business you supposedly do is not public record and can’t be verified. Don’t name companies while under your LLC, you have “NDAs” You could do this while working at Wendy’s too. Again, make sure you can back up this “experience “ in the interview and on the job. Went to a coding bootcamp? Don’t put the date, and your time there can be marked as part of your legal LLC and the projects are listed as experience. Companies that care more about a perfect resume then what you can actually do in an interview or on the job are toxic and you’re better off if they don’t hire because of having…
I come to you today with a tale of frustration, belittlement, and plain absurdity. I work under a general manager who is like a real-life Michael Scott from The Office. But wait, there's a twist – it’s not hilarious. At all. So, let me break down the chaos. This guy has an ego that could probably have its own gravitational pull. He belittles people, makes offensive comments and, brace yourselves, sends company-wide emails with everyone’s “dirty laundry”. You’d think someone with such a high position would know the basics of professionalism, but nope. Oh, and did I mention the racism? He doesn’t shy away from making racist comments and speaking in accents. It's like he thinks he’s on a sitcom where offensive jokes get a pass. But this is real life, where words have consequences and people’s feelings get hurt. Now, the cherry on top of this disaster sundae: his…
Btw, in saying rich, I mean the financially rich
Don't you just love it when higher ups (who are on vacation half the time) swap your good experienced manager for someone who, doesn't know anything about the department, so they just crack down on company policy and cut the fat as much as possible to make it look like they know what they're doing? I wonder how they're holding up with half their workers gone now lol. My new job pays almost double too and the workload is better so I'm doing great.
Only managers get to eat
I work at a semi famous sandwich shop in New York(state not the city) and I was told today after my shift was up and I hadn't gotten a meal break, that despite the fact that she “forgot” I still have to pay for a sandwich and only managers don't have to pay, not what I was told when I was hired. Despite the fact that I'm supposed to get a meal period in a 6 hour shift, and I didn't which is illegal in my state, it feels really shitty that I can't make myself a fucking sandwich. I'm not paying for a god damn sandwich. Edited. Typo.
Sending job applications into the abyss
This is why I get so anxious/stressed at the thought of job hunting. It's like pure exhaustion and hardly any interviews…which are terrifying on their own with the several rounds and tasks they think you have all the time to complete…and for free.
