The hood vents have not been working properly and it’s been dreadfully hot. The cooks are constantly sweating and miserable, one even filed a complaint with OSHA because they were tired of working in that condition. They were confronted by the owner. Servers and bartenders were raising concern in the work group chat last night about their asthma and how customers in the front of the house can smell the smoke. Rather than assuring and being helpful to employees, the manager shut down the conversation and stated that if anyone had an issue, they could speak to them and the owner privately. I’ve always been quiet, agreeable and unable to stand up for myself. He knows this and takes advantage of me by cutting my hours or taking my phone or gaslighting me. I can only hold down restaurant work as I get paid $25 an hour before taxes but now I don’t have enough hours. I like working in the morning and the workload is nice as I get overwhelmed easily. Most restaurants in LA are hard. I just feel…
Friends of mine and myself have been really struggling with getting an answer from companies, despite being overqualified and having inner connections. Anyone here with ACTUAL knowledge about the current state could shed some light? The whole “they aren't really looking” explanation sounds far fetched, since many companies post MANY open positions on a regular basis
How in the actual f#c* is this allowed?
