Corporatism is the problem…
Many like to blame many of the current problems in the workforce on a lot of factors, but the primary driver of shitty jobs, shitty pay, shitty products, and heartless bosses, is Corporatism. The corporate model is one where the company board is beholden to investors. The investors only care about maximum profits, they dont give a rats ass about people(its not their job to), they bought stock and they want to see their investment grow. And the company board has no other job than to figure out ways to make that happen. Unfortunately maximizing profits means simultaneously screwing over the employee and the customer at the same time. Employees get screwed by being over worked, under paid, and under valued. Customer gets screwed by being charged too much for a shitty product where all corners that could be cut, have been and the product is often designed to fail…
I finally snapped and lost my job
It seems that I'm finally at the end of my rope. For six months I've been working as a line cook in a pub with manipulative management, understaffed and underpaid. This brand has multiple pub locations, and about a month ago our GM (who was very competent and a good guy) left to work for the competition after the company stalled his advancement. The AGM was fully ready and capable to step up the position, and by all rights deserved it. However, in a move that shocked everyone, a GM from a neighboring location convinced our corporation that he could manage both locations at the same time. He immediately put everyone off with insults, fake kindness, boundary crossing, and baldly manipulative behavior. This led to the AGM, sous chefs and head chef all following the old GM to the new company. It's within this environment that I've experienced: Working a…
Update: Sitting during work
In my previous post I talked about how I’m getting a new job working as a cashier, where we are not allowed to sit during 6 hour shifts, even when it’s slow. I asked around and it turns out chairs used to be behind the counter, but they were taken away due to customer complaints. I’m thinking about quoting before my training period ends. Capitalism in America is fucking ridiculous and customers who complain about minimum wage workers having a chair are fucking psychopathic. Any advice or thoughts? Thanks
I’m a 17(F) and work at Chick-Fil-A for the money and recently we started selling these cow plushies for $3. I suppose I could’ve just paid for it but I also hate the company (homophobic) and so I just took it. It’s been a week and nothing has happened so I’m assuming nobody noticed, especially considering they’re mass produced anyways. I’m just mad that I feel guilty about it. I don’t condone stealing normally but when it comes to big ass harmful companies I just…feel like they deserve it. Should I keep feeling bad about this?
How does this scream “we need more people in this system” Make it make sense.
I really like this sub and learning about all the issues with our work culture and the bullshit employees have to go through. But, I’d like to watch videos of a person talking about stuff like this, similar to Joshua Fluke on YouTube. Are there some other YouTubers you can recommend me?
But they’re okay with understaff and underpaying their employees This was from a restaurant I felt it was understaff and I was definitely underpaid $15 per hour no tips but I did got free food but still not worth it
