This is a formulated opinion

And as such should be taken with a grain of salt. I am in no way saying or implying this is actually true, only that I’m frightened it could be. These wealthy people like Elon who are all about space exploration, and colonizing mars. Corporations would have literal slaves if they could, but that’s illegal on earth. On earth and the possessions earth claims(the ISS, arguably the moon). Mars has not been claimed yet.

Some hard truth

We need to repeal Reagan Tax cuts and Trickle down economic policies while repealing bogus right to work legislation that kneecapped organized labor. The only way the middle class will grow is to put more money in their pockets. These “golden years” that is so fondly referred to, was built on high corporate and wealth taxes.

National Labor Board: Most non-compete agreements are illegal. Call to action for regional offices to submit companies in violation

Great summary video from Lawful Masses YouTube channel. Attorney reads through the letter from the General Counsel of the US National Labor Relations Board regarding non-competes. TL;DR The majority of non-compete agreements likely violate provisions in the National Labor Relations Act because they reasonably create chilling effects that prevent workers from organizing, threatening to quit to improve workplace conditions, and carrying out those threats. Non-competes also causes missed opportunities for workers to improve pay, regardless of whether the agreement is enforced.

Gruelling job hunt

Bit of a rant. I’ve been job searching for a year or so since I graduated. Context: I went to university in Singapore, then relocated to the UK to live with my partner. I’ve applied to over 350 roles on LinkedIn. Hundreds elsewhere on various job boards. I’ve chatted up folks on LinkedIn. I’ve walked into cafes and retail stores with my retail-friendly CV. I’ve tried writing tailored cover letters as well. I used to get interviews regularly, not anymore though. I received emails from hiring managers stating they decided not to hire after all, or that they found a more suitable candidate. I have worked in contractual positions as a tech writer, and as a research assistant. In the past year, I’ve taken up certs and built a portfolio. Anyone else going through the same? Any advice? It feels like I’m going insane.

Ah, the incentive

Nothing quite like applying for a job that you have years of experience in, just do be offered minimum wage ($12), and only part time.

how to tell my job to fire me without telling them to fire me

long story short i injured myself back in April and I haven't been able to return to work since. I still have another 6+ weeks of not being able to come back. I don't qualify for FMLA so they're trying to fill my position while I'm still “employed” and can't guarantee the same hours as I had before. I'd rather them fire me so I can at least collect unemployment since I don't have short term disability. How do I tell my job to fire me without saying exactly that?
