I’ve come across an idea that I’m sure isn’t original, but I’m looking to start a discourse. What’s stopping you from forming a “club” with your friends and handing yourselves fake awards? Say you’re a Sale’s rep and you want to stand out a little more, you can have your friends awards you “Sales Rep of the year” or “Best Salesman” or “Most Sales” type or awards to just slap on the resume. And when asked about it in an interview, it’s very easy to just say “I was awarded by my peers for my excellent performance.” You can even name the club something extravagant to make it sound legit; “Salesmen of the Valley” or “Western Salesmen Group” or whatever. Just a fake fraternity that you can give meaning to.

This is why money and capitalism is bad/evil.
Why is it that employers get pissed or outright deny your time off if you don’t give extensive notice beforehand, but I can be called in literally on the same day and be expected to come in? A lot of the time it’s outright impossible to plan some things weeks ahead which forces you to either use one of your limited sick days or risk getting denied for time off.
I know this is going to sound very dramatic to a lot of people since most people love their birthday and want others to aknowledge it, but I'm hoping at least someone here will understand. I don't celebrate my birthday and ever since I was a child, I have always felt extremely sad during that time. There are several reasons for this, but the bottom line is it's an incredibly personal and vulnerable time for me. I consider the exact date of my birthday an extremely intimate information that I wouldn't even disclose to very good friends. Unfortunately, I was recently required to fill out my personal information (personal address and date of birth) and send it by e-mail to two people in the company for work-related purposes. And unfortunately, this coincidentally happened close to my birthday. I already felt quite vulnerable sending out my information by e-mail, but I…
You can't make this stuff up.
This has red flags written all over it.
I should preface this by saying nobody in my family has died recently, just making an observation on how insensitive this is. If my mom, dad, or sister passed away I don’t think I would be able to perform well at my job within a month, let alone the same week. Three days is like an appropriate amount of time to grieve the death of a pet. Corporate America at its finest.
What is this sub about?
i’m very curious on what this sub is about bc i’m not quite sure i understand it yet. Anti work? why don’t ya’ll want to work…? Explain pls
My boss has been exploiting me for quite a while, i work 7 days a week and rarely get days off.. my friend and i who both work for him found out (through other employees) that he’s been paying all our coworkers on the 1st and 15th of the month while paying us on the 11th and 22nd and now he’s getting all aggressive and blaming me on this. I don’t want to get personal as everyone has enough shit on their plates, but part of me just wants to give up on everything.
My manager is overworking me (a minor)
In my state, minors can’t work after 7 pm and can’t work more than 40 hours per week. Also, part time in my state is also considered to be under 30 hours. I am not getting paid extra for working overtime. I also did not choose to work overtime. My workplace is making me leave at 12 am and 1 am every week. I can’t legally drive at those hours and they usually make me stay even after 1 am to close. I don’t feel comfortable doing that, but my manager should be aware that I can’t work in those conditions. They are making me work 35 hours in 4 days even though I’ve mentioned I can’t work that much. Once I got hired I explained my circumstances but they started overworking me bc we are understaffed. I will definitely quit. I almost feel like this is illegal but Idk.…
