Not sure if this is the right rub for this – I have been on a much needed vacation for the past week and will return to work on Monday. I am feeling an overwhelming sense of dread and anxiety. My job this year has been very difficult and my company has made many negative changes. Intense micromanagement, reduction of WFH, unrealistic goals and increased workload without compensation. I cannot mentally prepare to return to work. Changing jobs would be very stressful for my current situation so I feel stuck. Any advice is welcomed.

I’m 26 and i find it incredible that in the recent past in the United States someone could work at a grocery store and afford to pay rent, fill up their gas tank, and put food on the table for both themselves and their kids and live somewhat comfortably. I don’t romanticize the past by any means but putting things in perspective, the bar is currently so low, it’s in hell. My goal in life is to just live comfortably without struggling and it’s so sad how unattainable that is now.
Perspective Irreversibly Shifted
Ever since I returned from Europe I can’t shake how shitty American work culture is. When I was in Italy I couldn’t help be realize how Italians work to live and not live to work. I haven’t been able to get over the feeling that I am wasting my life in a country where I am forced to work the majority of my life.
My SO, a “boomer” is quiet quitting.
My SO is 63 (yes, we're boomers but we're not “those” boomers). The other day they looked at me and said “I realized today that I was getting my work done really quickly, so I slowed down”. I was so proud of them!

Question about Finding Coverage
Hey all, wanted to ask some questions based on this info: employee “part-time” pay is “per session” (only if I see a customer, do I get paid) “unlimited” PTO (no pay) I need to find coverage for said PTO no benefits or formal, typical “PTO” Am I actually obligated to search for coverage based on these rules? Or do I have a right to tell the “boss” that they or “admin” should be handling that? (NYC)
sorry if this against the rules, i just see a lot of smart people on this sub and hope somebody can help me out this is a weird question and i'm not really sure where to post it. i work at a non-chain pet store and every year our boss does a fundraiser thing where several associates are locked in dog crates and not let out until the donation goal is met (or at the end of the shift) you can come out to go to the washroom but that's it, it's hot and uncomfortable and i hate doing it, do i have any legal right to not? edit: big city in AL
My brother 17 yo. recently got his very first part time job for the summer before going to college. He have been hired and is working two weeks. During his interview he had said that said that he can't work on 2 specific days. One is for his grads night (school event) and the other for his high school graduation. He also email the manager beforehand about the request these two days off. Today he received his upcoming schedule and found that his time off is not approved. I told him to email the manager again, and tell him that he can't work. He told me that his manager said that he didn't follow companies procedure, on requesting day off one week ahead on Wednesday. But it doesn't make sense since my brother have proof through email that he want his days off. I told him to not worried about…
I’m losing hope..
6 month intro period…sigh…there was also a section about grooming etc, and guys…I can even grow a beard while I work here..but only if I'm on vacation 🙂 (for the absurdity of this, I've got what I would consider a decent beard already…hired on this way..I'll never look at the owners the same…profits over people…always…but I'm in the “butts on briefs and smiles on faces” field…where I literally take care of people…who are vulnerable…and these fucking greedmongers literally only see dollar signs. I'm so sad for humanity 🙁
