Saw a notification briefly pop up on my phone about a “final chance to sign the new lease at a lower rate” which was confusing because I'm month to month and haven't signed a lease since I moved in. Couldn't find anything in the app the management company uses so I popped into the office. Now I know I've had a good deal here. Rent has increased from $930-1040 for a 2 bedroom in 8 years which is unheard of. I dunno if I fell through the cracks or what but I've counted my blessings where they are. Rent is increasing to around $1250. Sucks but it's been a long time coming. However here is the catch. When the dude at the office pulled up my account he double hand held his head saying “that's what you're paying????”. He's a good dude and I said I knew it was pretty…
Would you stay?
Hello, I am a 25M who is a contracted federal guard. I am a full time college student and am on my last class of my associates and beginning my bachelors. Due to college and VA appointments I was assigned to a night post that paid 25$ an hour. This quickly became not the case. From the beginning I was given different post and much more hours than I signed up for. But the money was good and I was in debt at the time so I dealt with it. Now things have changed, a year later I got my disability approved from the VA and am making good money off of that combined with my housing allowance for school. But my classes are getting harder and several of them will drop you from the course if you miss a single assignment and for the last 3 weeks I have…
Just Don’t Do It
Just venting here: On January 26, 2023 I was fired for the first time in my nearly 15 year career. To say it came as a shock would be an understatement. I recognized the workplace was toxic. Management was toxic, and the place generally sucked… but I did my job and never had any disciplinary issues. I had been with this very large shoe and apparel company based in the Pacific Northwest for nearly 3 years. I was hired right as COVID started and was based in the NYC office. The first two years were amazing and I truly enjoyed my job. When my manager decided to leave for another role with a different company was the point where things started getting shitty. My manager was amazing and I didn’t understand how much he shielded me and others from the craziness coming out of the corporate HQ. The first red…
The security company that I applied for gave me a link to a HireVue interview through an AI text massage. So I never got a chance to talk to the hiring manager. I didn't want to do it. but my father said we were desperate and needed money so I did the interview. I'm already anxious when it comes to interviewing so my anxiety was through the fucking roof. The questions were too broad and hard to answer because I'd never been in the scenarios that they were giving me. I tried my best anyway. I didn't hear back from them. I had to go to their website and sign to find out that I was not selected for the role. They didn't have the balls to tell me themselves. If a company has to bots to communicate with candidates and make them take one-sided interviews, they aren't the company…
I work with a vulnerable population, many (not all) of the individuals serviced at my work have physical, mental, or psychological disabilities. A few months ago I witnessed another adult threaten a vulnerable person. The individual was struggling to walk somewhere. The staff member refused their reasonable accommodation (mobility based) and threatened to drag the person to their destination. I was asked by the administration to write a statement which I did. Since this incident, this individual has alternated harassing me and ignoring me. She harasses me when we are alone, and when we are working with our vulnerable population she outright ignores me. If I ask for help she will turn around and leave the room. She is also going to my colleagues and airing her grievances to people who are unaware of the situation. My administration has taken no action positive or negative to resolve the issue. Because…
I've been struggling at work for the last few months. I think the company is about to fire me. I have proof to show that my manager was picking on me (2 documented instances in informal convo with said manager and a coworker separately). Also there was a point my manager and upper management called me in for a meeting where I was told I was incompetent in my work and unprofessional (because of a typo!). Manager has recently had an issue with typos in my work (despite me having implemented all her tips and tricks and played around with settings). I offered to run my work through a manual spell check, or some other software since my current system isn't working, she said no for security reasons. She refuses to acknowledge progress and makes a small comment overshadowed by the issue of typos. I've been at the company for…
