Job jumping vent
I've posted here before about my difficulty finding a job and got a dm asking why I don't jump from one to another until I find my fit. I have and I use to be a job jumper the year after college. I jumped from one place to another in a few months time I was at 4 different places. I did social media management web development and digital content creation. The first time I did social media management and content creation (never gained training) I was employed about a month and 2 weeks, I got covid 2 weeks after starting (big fuckin bird flipped my way after 2 years) took 2 weeks to recover in that time I was still working just from home. Got paid only for the weeks I was on site, had a meeting with hr and management, got fired, got walked off the premises. The…
https://nypost.com/2023/05/15/self-checkout-machines-now-ask-customers-to-tip/ When I worked in retail we were forbidden to take tips. I am slowly ceasing to tip, because my assumption is that like every other cost tipping is already baked into the price like every other cost a for-profit incurs on top of the already over-inflated markup, while CEOs, executives, and shareholders via management pay labor the legally allowable minimum.
Literally as the title states, I've been in my job as an office manager for over a year. Always felt a bit excluded from certain meetings due to me being the only woman in the company. My boss has recently asked me to update the company website and add new members of staff on….. Firstly I've noticed he's added everyone, excluding me (and this is even people that are still going through their probationary) Secondly they're all men Thirdly I've noticed they've all had professional photos taken Fourth I've never been asked to arrange the photo shoot (as office manager this would be the norm kind of thing for me to arrange) I feel so upset, excluded and also shocked! I've emailed my boss with a 'what about us girls!?' For the website and typically he's ignored me. I don't know how else to go about this, but feel very…
“Just riot” is not feasible
I’m sorry but I’m beyond fucking tired of Europeans and other non-Americans telling us to “just riot” or violently protest for our workers rights. Don’t you think we would have by now if we could? There are so so so many obstacles in the way of a mass workers movement similar to that in France and to act as if we’re just being complacent is ridiculous. Only 11% of our workforce is represented by a union and about 30% of the population just doesn’t like them. We are far from united as a population in what we believe workers deserve so how can we riot if we don’t even know what for? Not even to mention the pure ideological indoctrination that occurs growing up in this country. People either think there’s no problems or that the problems are unfixable. In either case, the platform for which a mass protest movement…
I thought I’d post some positivity
I'm from Australia but this the non evasive response I got from my manager when I caught a bug. No questions, no worries. Here's to more managers like them!
