It's often said that people quit bosses, not jobs. A bad boss can make a good job miserable and a bad job unbearable. Unfortunately, I find myself in the unfortunate position of having one of the worst bosses in my entire career at my current workplace, and I simply cannot stay silent about it any longer. Here are the reasons why this boss has driven me to the point of frustration and led me to make the difficult decision to leave: False Promises: What was said during the interview process turned out to be nothing more than empty fluff. The boss made grand promises about the work environment and support that would be provided, but it quickly became evident that those were just words. I interviewed for a position and the caseload is 90 for a full time therapy job with high risk clients with a high rate of active suicidal wishes and violence. A therapist should not be seeing more than 25-30 clients per week at the very maximum. And for high risk clients they should be seen at least once per week. ​ Therapists are burning out – and the licensure requirements, training after a graduate degree and endless post graduate certifications we are required to have are murdering our field. It costs at least 30K to get a graduate degree now (additional to what ever you paid for undergrad), and forgiveness is non existent. Every time you near enough experience to go solo practitioner – they move the goal post for providing services and increase documentation, cost and training needed. I have been working in a product development org for past 16 years. I got promoted a few months back through an internal role. A few weeks later I received an offer from a competitor offering a fully remote role in a different area that I aspire to work in. I applied and finally received a very competitive offer from them and decided to accept it. When i went in to turn in my resignation, my boss flew into a rage when I mentioned I would like to leave. He cannot believe I am looking outside when I just received a promotion. What's with people these days ,flying off the handle when someone wants to progress?

I'm a delivery driver. This man pays us the minimum wage ($7.25/hr) and only $4/hr on the road which is most of the time we're working. The employees are always pouring sweat because we have to work in a tiny location that was never intended to be a restaurant, with a pizza oven and he refuses to turn on the AC. We only get 1 uniform shirt, I've never worked at a restaurant that only gives you one shirt and no, even if you ask for another you're not allowed to have one. The only person allowed to be full time is the general manager because the owner doesn't want to have to give people insurance benefits or pay overtime. so gist is, been working a part-time office job for about a year and a half now. and for the most part, not too bad of a gig, all things considered. i get the option to work up to eight hours if i want, and if they have the work to spare. and the work is so mind-numbingly easy i get eight hours worth of work done in three. since nobody checks up on me for the most part (hearing and seeing the sheer totalitarianism of american businesses makes me feel really lucky about this place), i spend the rest of the time learning new things like coding, maths and sciences, history, or just getting some creative writing done. now, at an e-meeting today, supervisor mentioned an opening for a full-time position that's one step up the corporate ladder: pretty much the same thing but with extra duties like training…
