Can someone give me some advice on a work from home position? I was explicitly told at the beginning of this job that I am only allowed to work two places: home and office for tax reasons. It is a sales job that would be very easy to work while traveling. I am going on multiple trips for a creative career I am pursuing on the side, and know I would be able to work without using my PTO hours. It’s just one state away, same time zone. I do use a VPN to sign into my laptop which uses Microsoft teams. Do you think my work would get alerted/find out or is it more of a situation where they would only find it if they were looking? Any ways to get around this? This is a fortune 50 company.

Financial Progression
People, never stop putting your application out there as that is the true way to get the money you deserve; build on the experience you have received and will continue to receive. Complacency and comfortability for your job is the enemy of financial progression. We auction off our time for money, it’s just something we have to do. Don’t feel like you owe your loyalty to anyone person or company. Your loyalties should ONLY fall to the highest payer, and that’s only until you find something better.
What's stopping people from turning LinkedIn into an absolute shit show? The corporate culture on that social network could really use a bunch of shitposting and thirst traps.
Hi everyone. I(M22) was recently diagnosed with a condition called Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and it has the potential to fuck up my life more than it already has. I have struggled with this for over a year and a half after quiting my minimum wage job working retail. I am seriously afraid for my future because it affects my ability to work drastically with the chronic pain it causes. What makes it worse is that I live with a conservative family in a fairly conservative part of the country that just echoes the 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' mentality about all things relating to money. I also must mention that I am autistic and that adds a whole new layer of difficulty to this for me. My Dad is the only one trying and actually helping. I used to be on their side until all of my friends (rightfully)…
All I'm saying is, Americans who benefit from capitalism don't want us to be anything like France, which has such strong union ties that their whole world stops when they strike. France also has, like, the fourth seventh largest GDP in the world or something, I hardly think they're failing to thrive? Gross. Martha Stewart Puts Foot in Mouth Over Remote Work, France Edit: correcting statement on France's GDP
I was promoted to a position 5 months ago and I accepted it because company said they would be hiring a new person to take my old role. 3 months ago company said they’re holding off and will let me know June 1st. Had a company meeting June 1st and they’re still holding off despite me telling them I cannot efficiently do both roles, especially at the same pay rate. They’re worried about money even though they’re driving $75k+ cars. After my meeting I got a call for an interview for a company I almost got the job at a year ago and I’m meeting them this week. Godspeed and crossing my fingers.
I have been hoping from job to job over the pat 2 years since i could not find something i enjoyed doing, plus couple of health and mental health issues that have been delaying with. The only silver lining from all of it, was the fact that i didn't have to pay for my medical treatment and now that I'm currently just studying instead of working, i still get health coverage. But recently there has been a big push for privatization, while they started asking for something small, the language they are using and the discourse that I'm hearing is eerily familiar to Ronald Regan's talking points about privatization and hatred for the public worker and the people that rely on the system to survive. I hate it, while we are staging a protest tomorrow, the sentiment seems to be so divided that i feel like my country is finally…
Getting Away… Work Can Wait
I have tried to write this concisely a few times now, but I am so frustrated at this point I can barely think straight. So- it would be great to know what anyone has thought/done/not done in a similar situation: Basically, in lieu of hiring/promoting someone to fill the position of a sr manager of 20+ yrs, they are spreading her duties among 3 of us, who already have full time responsibilities, without any discussion, new title, or increased compensation. Two months before said retirement, which leaves little to no time for consulting w her or any training to happen. I found out from my boss today, through a ‘meeting invite’ (not even an email or dialogue), that I am now also absorbing additional responsibilities that were to be assigned to another coworker who ‘can’t take on anymore’. So essentially doing my job as well as 2/3 of a sr…
