My district manager, who is also the general manager of the location I work at, completely ignored my call a few days ago during one of the busiest weekends of the year. We were supposed to have 6 people on, but 3 of them called out, so I and 2 of my coworkers were forced to work nonstop for 8 hours straight. My managers excuse? Her phone was dead. As a DM and GM, I know her phone is never dead. It simply can’t be in that type of position. I was honestly so shocked that she used such a lame excuse that I wasn’t sure what to say. I don’t plan on staying at this job for very long, as I’m nearly done with my degree and have been in contact with recruiters, but I’m not entirely sure how to feel about it. It’s unacceptable behavior, but what can…
I am thinking about ghosting the company. I have been working here a year and a half. This job is part time. At the beginning of the year, I begged for more hours to make ends meet financially and my boss said he couldn't do it. So, I am currently working two jobs. A friend of mine texted me Friday asking me if I knew my job was posted online. I went and looked. I am paid $15 an hour. The listing is for $20. This is aggravating since I just spoke with my boss in January about $16 an hour and he said no. My work includes webpage and graphic design. I have MANY good reviews and it's certainly not about job performance. Since I have access to all email accounts and am in charge of the entire office, I logged in. My boss has over 30 applicants and…
I missed one day without notice. AITA?
Huge wake up call as I was helping my manager sift through 50 applications that came in the past week all from highly qualified candidates. We’re currently taking 8 table sections (I work at a fine dining restaurant and that is way too much with the amount of service we have to give). And yet they have all these amazing candidates applying each week and barely hire. These restaurants constantly blame the poor service and servers stressing out on “being short staffed” and “nobody wants to work”. They just don’t want to hire – for literally $3 an hour which is what we make. It’s ridiculous.
My former boss made Abduction jokes
This former job of mine (small business) really did a lot abuse from the past. My boss then somehow found out I was abducted. Then the next week we have a work team dinner. She made jokes about Abduction. She wasn't talking to me directly but to someone else and it made me super uncomfortable. What's bad is that she knows I almost got abducted as to why I couldn't come to work last week because I have to file a police report and go to an urgent care. I confronted her about the joke and she responded it in the most abusive way. Really called me names (I was a weakling, I was a not respectful, I was not chill out so on), claimed I'm being emotional, and yelled at me. I was extremely humiliated. And customers can hear me. I was in extreme emotiomal trauma as what she…
Just quit with no notice.
Left my job of 4.5 years due to bullying basically. Found another job down the road and was for the most part enjoying it, but went in with the mindset that ” A jobs a job, Idgaf anymore.” Well I said from the beginning i wanted part time, as thats all i need to cover bills and have a bit left over for luxeries and spare time, Well because im one of the few there who can work the kitchen they straight away put me on 7 days a week, 10 hour days… They said once a few people come back from Uni I would get the part time I wanted, Well i just finished the 2 week stretch and im exhausted. During those 2 weeks there has been one person who has been a constant bitch to me the whole time, I tried to get along, tried to be…
