Currently in a mandatory meeting for “culture building.” I'm curious how many people like me use these meetings to not pay attention and do other stuff?

Hey y’all I just started my first serving job and it’s already been made clear by an experienced server that we are on the hook for the tab of anyone that leaves. As far as I know this is illegal, but is anyone able to point me to the specific regulation or statute that makes it so in the event I need to prove it. I’m in Texas specifically if that matters. knocked my tooth out @ work on April 20th while working, i opened a door and it slammed my face. I got let go at the end of my probationary period on may 11th and no word from my supervisor or HR about my tooth they didn’t make me fill out a incident report either. but i got a worker’s compensation card in the mail for buying prescriptions? i had to pay 327$ today for my x-rays & they want 7,000$ for implants what do i do??? my job was unionized too.

I just left my corporate job. I don’t have anything lined up. I’m an unemployed girlie and I’ll figure it out as I go. I had to be reachable by phone 24/7 and everyone abused the policy. It felt like I could never fully unwind during my time off from work because of the constant emails, phone calls and texts that I had to respond to, or else I’d be scolded and called out during meetings. I won’t miss working overnight or early morning fieldwork shifts. I won’t miss the notifications waking me up at all hours of the day. Someone got ahold of my personal number, then contacted me for some non-urgent trash while I was on PTO. Being tethered to my job 24/7 really disrupted my life. So I worked in a movie theater. That had red flag amongst red flag but I’m trying to go back to school and this was the perfect job for me. A ton of lay time in between movies and hours outside of what’s seen as traditional. I gave this place 7 months of open schedule, closing on weekends, dealing w people that did not work, did not show up for shifts. I was promoted after a month. And now fired in my 7th month. I found some kittens in April. Newborn kittens. And had been bringing them to work. Now when I tell you the theater I worked in is nothing special. No slushees, no food, and barely any popular movies. Everything was an off the path, artsy movie. Which also means no customers. Or barely any. I like to listen to music/podcasts during work but my managers started checking cameras, is there a cheap handheld pauser or a way to get my phone to pause when it's muted so I don't need to take it out my pocket when I want it to stop?

Is it okay to work at a foodplace and now i am currently suffering from heavy allergies, according to my mum, its no big deal. i'm just confused at this point
