Overtime during an on-cal week
If I have an on-call shift and get called into work I get paid 1.5x base rate I work12 hour shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of a week and on-call where I was called in on Sunday for the whole 12 hours. My employer only paid me 12 hours overtime. I am in a union and am a union steward but am constantly fighting the other stewards due to their lack of wanting to do anything. Our contract states we be paid 1.5x for on-call.
Can my work track me?
Can someone give me some advice on a work from home position? I was explicitly told at the beginning of this job that I am only allowed to work two places: home and office for tax reasons. It is a sales job that would be very easy to work while traveling. I am going on multiple trips for a creative career I am pursuing on the side, and know I would be able to work without using my PTO hours. It’s just one state away, same time zone. I do use a VPN to sign into my laptop which uses Microsoft teams. Do you think my work would get alerted/find out or is it more of a situation where they would only find it if they were looking? Any ways to get around this? This is a fortune 50 company.
Financial Progression
People, never stop putting your application out there as that is the true way to get the money you deserve; build on the experience you have received and will continue to receive. Complacency and comfortability for your job is the enemy of financial progression. We auction off our time for money, it’s just something we have to do. Don’t feel like you owe your loyalty to anyone person or company. Your loyalties should ONLY fall to the highest payer, and that’s only until you find something better.
What's stopping people from turning LinkedIn into an absolute shit show? The corporate culture on that social network could really use a bunch of shitposting and thirst traps.
Hi everyone. I(M22) was recently diagnosed with a condition called Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and it has the potential to fuck up my life more than it already has. I have struggled with this for over a year and a half after quiting my minimum wage job working retail. I am seriously afraid for my future because it affects my ability to work drastically with the chronic pain it causes. What makes it worse is that I live with a conservative family in a fairly conservative part of the country that just echoes the 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' mentality about all things relating to money. I also must mention that I am autistic and that adds a whole new layer of difficulty to this for me. My Dad is the only one trying and actually helping. I used to be on their side until all of my friends (rightfully)…
