All I'm saying is, Americans who benefit from capitalism don't want us to be anything like France, which has such strong union ties that their whole world stops when they strike. France also has, like, the fourth seventh largest GDP in the world or something, I hardly think they're failing to thrive? Gross. I was promoted to a position 5 months ago and I accepted it because company said they would be hiring a new person to take my old role. 3 months ago company said they’re holding off and will let me know June 1st. Had a company meeting June 1st and they’re still holding off despite me telling them I cannot efficiently do both roles, especially at the same pay rate. They’re worried about money even though they’re driving $75k+ cars. After my meeting I got a call for an interview for a company I almost got the job at a year ago and I’m meeting them this week. Godspeed and crossing my fingers.
I have been hoping from job to job over the pat 2 years since i could not find something i enjoyed doing, plus couple of health and mental health issues that have been delaying with. The only silver lining from all of it, was the fact that i didn't have to pay for my medical treatment and now that I'm currently just studying instead of working, i still get health coverage. But recently there has been a big push for privatization, while they started asking for something small, the language they are using and the discourse that I'm hearing is eerily familiar to Ronald Regan's talking points about privatization and hatred for the public worker and the people that rely on the system to survive. I hate it, while we are staging a protest tomorrow, the sentiment seems to be so divided that i feel like my country is finally…
Getting Away… Work Can Wait
I have tried to write this concisely a few times now, but I am so frustrated at this point I can barely think straight. So- it would be great to know what anyone has thought/done/not done in a similar situation: Basically, in lieu of hiring/promoting someone to fill the position of a sr manager of 20+ yrs, they are spreading her duties among 3 of us, who already have full time responsibilities, without any discussion, new title, or increased compensation. Two months before said retirement, which leaves little to no time for consulting w her or any training to happen. I found out from my boss today, through a ‘meeting invite’ (not even an email or dialogue), that I am now also absorbing additional responsibilities that were to be assigned to another coworker who ‘can’t take on anymore’. So essentially doing my job as well as 2/3 of a sr…
Most of my life I've avoided the 9 to 5. I've taken bartending jobs, smoke shops, even a vet clinic once. Now , I'm in one. I really do enjoy the job. Its the best job I've ever had and I'm crawling out of my skin sitting in the same position all day, hearing the same music stations, knowing we all feel the same and none of us have enough PTO to leave on a whim just to go home and relax. The weekends almost seem bleak having not enough time to even look forward too. I know I should be grateful to have a good paying job with benefits in an area where they are hard to find close to home. But I'm struggling to be content. How do you get along with your desk jobs, in a capitalistic hellscape knowing retirement is laughable and you just want to…
Hi all, im on mobile so bear with me. I havent shared the full story and its too long to share now so ill try and be brief. I work in the US, in a “progressive” state that allows for up to 3 months of baby bonding time for newborns, adoptions, etc. Im protected from being retaliated against for taking this time and had a meeting with HR, my manager and his manager to discuss the ways he has retaliated against me for taking leave time and how at this point I just want a transfer (denying a lot of time off and any additional leave requests, attenuating my career with the agency, gatekeeping information and connections, etc) My bosses boss inadvertently pointed out how they denied my request to extend my leave time (apparently everyone gets a 1 time extension if requested, which I did request but was denied)…
