I currently work at a low paying/minimum wage job that I'm considering quitting. Because I work at night, my manager isn't around at all, and I don't have the chance to hand in a two weeks notice letter. Would it be unprofessional to send it over email and them notify him by text, or should I just sick it up and give him said notice in the day? This job has mistreated me for months now and I'm sick of it. Should I mention this if I'm asked why I'm quitting? Should I just quit without said two weeks?
Ex employer behavior
My facial hair grows rather wiry. My previous employer would complain about the fact I shaved infrequently (I have extreme sensitivity to shaving). During these conversations, they would sometimes ‘joke’ about my facial hair making me look like ‘a terrorist’. I didn’t think much of it at the time but looking back it infuriates me.
It's probably a typo, but that's still $3 lower than average for this position where I live. $14 is not a liveable wage here.
Previous post: https://old.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/13r7n7u/my_manager_collected_donations_for_me_but_kept_it/ I just want to clear something up since I've gotten harassed over it. These donations were collected less than a year ago after our whole office had been strictly WFH due to covid. I continued working from home until I couldn’t, which was last week. I wanted to give everyone an update because some were asking for it so I hope this is OK. I used a compilation of some of what you all said and emailed my coworkers from my personal email. I explained the situation and requested they get their money back because none of it was actually donated to me. I also requested they send a screenshot of the donation as proof so I could see what I could do legally like pressing charges or small claims court. Mainly wanting proof this actually happened. So over the weekend 8 of my coworkers responded. They…
A handful of you asked for an update to my post about quitting my job that denied me a raise: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/13ifdn9/deny_me_a_raise_okay_i_quit/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 I put in my 2 weeks notice 15 days ago. My coworkers are scrambling to figure out how the clinic will function without me, as I’ve been the ONLY medical assistant working Sundays for the past few weeks. Our NP and medical director have both joked about everyone else needing to “get it together “ to make up for my absence. After our temp manager put in a request to hire a replacement for me, the hospital announced it would be reassessing our clinic’s staffing budget, so who knows what direction that will go. Earlier today I was officially offered a job as a research associate for a local health department today! Pay is the same but benefits are WAY better, I won’t have to work weekends/holidays, and my…
Had a baby this spring
I had a baby a few months ago. My job, despite being open for 35+ years and being woman-owned and always preaching about woman empowerment, never had a maternity policy before. They “never needed one” – apparently nobody’s ever been pregnant before. My previous manager, who quit 2 months before I gave birth, had informed them I would work full time remote until I was able to obtain full time childcare. There was no issue with this. My new manager, previously my colleague in my department, along with the owner’s husband, called a last minute meeting last month. The owners of my company have rescinded my ability to work full time from home because they’re old fashioned. They included my infant daughters name in this contract I had to sign. I have to start going back hybrid this week. If I’m not back full time 9/1, I can “train my…
