I work in a corporate office job with hybrid Work From Home schedule since Covid. Recently they forced us to go back into office fully so we can experience the “work culture”. I refused and they are now threatening to fire me. Should I change my pronoun so they may not be able to fire me due to discrimination issue?
At work…and kinda over it.
I feel like I don’t get the respect or recognition i deserve. If that sounds prideful, I do take pride in my work ethic and I also expect others to “work” when they are on the clock…but when I see corners being cut and just overall laziness. I am disheartened and motivation drops to ZERO
Hi everyone. So sorry but I’m just not sure where else I can turn to ask for advice. My employer just dropped papers on me and my husband both, saying that we are being terminated. For dates at the beginning of April. We both took a week off (using our PAID sick days) and they’re telling us now that we are required to get doctors notes for these dates. They told us before that it was fine. We took off because our employer switched health insurances. My husband was unable to get his ADHD medication, and I was unable to get my insulin for that week. He had to switch his medication, which made him sick. I finally got mine again, and it made me incredibly sick when I took it again. Now, they’re telling me they need doctors notes. I never went to the doctor. We were struggling to…
Feeling defenseless in my industry
I feel to give some perspective i should say first that i have 6 years of experience working on the line and 4 years of culinary school. I recently resigned from a position due to uncontrollable family related issues and have been looking constantly ,since resigning, for a job with indeed. the area I live in is very tourism based and I don't feel iv got a leg to stand on when it comes to establishing boundaries with these reasteraunts, iv been refused what I feel is reasonable acomidation (siting to take weight of my knee iv had surgery) and told by local labor attorneys i don't have a case, Or at lease not one they saw as worth there time. If anyone has advice or a similar experience they would be able to share i would greatly appreciate it. This whole situation has left me feeling defenseless
It’s that time of the year again where high school/university students like myself flock to snag a decent summer job. I worked at a local grocery store last summer so I figured that I’d apply to the same place this and that having work experience at the same location would give me an extra foot in the door, but I guess not. My application just got rejected. I always thought that jobs didn’t want to train their employees if they didn’t have to, and were more likely to hire returning employee applications but I guess not? I have also been under the impression that it’s always better to have your University/degree(s) listed on your resume, and that those with it stood better chances then those without. But apparently my store is now prioritising hiring high schoolers without a full degree. So Again, I guess I was wrong. And it’s not…
For the profit, by any means necessary. Fuck the corporate world.
I’m no big fan of the AI overlords, but I found this funny. I just know there is some company somewhere with a CEO sending out very similar shit unironically when an employee passes away.
What was the Bill of Economic Rights? A right guararieeing fair wages, affordable housing, affordable health care, a right to education, etc. in short affordable participation in social life, no exclusion from potential and opportunity based on economic gatekeeping. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Bill_of_Rights Who blocked it back in 1944? Neo-liberals. Who is Marianne Williamson? A presidential candidate for 2024, the establishment wants to push into oblivion, because she stands for actual change. Understands what must change. Why is this relevant for Antiwork? The second bill of rights not passing in 1944 is the reason for the misery of US lavor. Since then workers have been systematically disenfranchised for neo-liberal “free” market economy interests. “Free” standing here for capitalists to exploit economically, disenfranchise politically and instrumentalize through media those without the means. If you work for your living your a worker. No mather if you're a cashier or doctor. workers unite. If you let…
