I found a unicorn job a couple months ago that perfectly exemplifies not only all the professional background that I've worked in for the past ten years, but also something I'm deeply passionate about. I applied on a whim, thinking they would probably find someone with more experience in science or education than I have. Turns out I have exactly what they're looking for and it's down to me and one other person for the role and in two hours I have my 3rd interview with a five panel group. Not only would this job be my first salaried job, my first time not needing a side hustle or public assistance, it's something I'm deeply passionate about working for my dream institution. I've spent years on here cathartically commiserating with you all about the state of labor in America and around the world, schluaffing away at work that I feel…
Don’t believe it for a second. I just sat in a 2 hour call just to be told my role is being reworked, and that the half a billion dollar profit company can’t afford to pay us a living wage, but they can afford to open more locations with more employees that will also get underpaid. Genuine concern over employee retention was met with “if you’re not happy here, feel free to leave” Cost of Living concerns were met with gaslighting about how we are already paid fairly. I cannot afford to live on my current wage, and neither can most of the employees at the company. I’m so sick of hearing how the business needs have to come first. I should come first. Employees are what keep your business running. I thought I had picked a good company, but in reality, they all truly do not care about you.
girlie this is just capitalism…
my cousin is an antivax homeschooler crystal mommy influencer and she just reposted to this to her IG story… she’s so close to figuring it out
I wanna attempt to escape capitalism
More like prison every year.
Has anyone been hired this way? I feel like it’s cutting a corner… Edit: meant recorded video applications, not a Zoom call.
How do you deal with jobsworths?
You know the type, the ones who think the business would collapse without them, the ones who think they know better than anyone else and spend an excessive amount of time scrutinising everyone else’s work for faults so they can pick them apart. I’m so fed up of my colleague who talks shit about others, picks their “faults” apart and relentlessly thinks that everything they do is perfect and everyone else (some of which are management and director level) are just clueless fools. It’s gotten to me so much that I really want to find a fault in their work to highlight it to them or come back with a passive aggressive response like “it must be great being perfect” but that would make me no better than them. I guess it’s time to find a new job, but then again, there will only be another waiting at the next…
Time wasters?
As unprofessional as it gets. Of course there's no mention of wages on the ad.
EX employer shorted me!
Sin Number was in the screenshots so there not posted however I do have documentation of everything except the amount of pay.
