I feel low-key guilty for being happy about being laid off. Everyone in my office is crying or super emotional about it, sharing pictures and messages on social media. But… I feel relieved and in a sense I couldn't care less. I am an immigrant worker and I was not treated right at this workplace for several years (not because of me being an immigrant worker, but because they're assholes). I started working here in my early 20s with tons of hope and illusions. I worked extra hard and poured my all into it. Today I was told today, “It's workers like you the reason why Russia and China are crushing the US market!” The factory was temping at over 87 degrees F, hotter in other areas I'm sure sure. I was advocating for the use of fans to control the temperature around other employees. I was also told today, “You get paid to be uncomfortable.” I responded, “No I get paid to produce product and cut and machine parts on the CNC, no where in my contract does it say that “be uncomfortable”, is apart of the job. They responded, “If HR or The Owner heard you say they they'd tell you get used to it and fire you without unemployment”. Thats all. I continue to subject myself to a toxic ass workplace. So I work for a very large company, UK based but they're worldwide, and my job involves a bit of travel around the UK & rarely abroad. Could be one night away, could be a few, but we have corporate AMEX's to use from flight booking, hotels, meals & everything. Every expense must have valid receipts, we have a very thorough online system for processing our expenses. I'd like to find a way to maximise my personal benefits from using this card… For example if I was away for 3 nights, I could eat a £20 / £30 meal each night & no one would care. However if I fancy a pot noodle one night instead, I feel 'guilty' for not making the most of my company money… I could order from places like Papa Johns, and build up loyalty points, but that's a slow process. Asked for a few days of study leave to prepare for my UK employer's internal certification, only to get a response in the range of 'as professionals we manage our time and you should stay at work longer or study in the weekend'. A few issues with the above apart from the obvious demand for free work: I) my employer has connected some agreed bonuses with the outcome of this examination, potential penalty is measured in the thousands. II) my employer mentions study leave in the benefits package when advertising for my role, they word this as 'study leave as long as it's relevant to your role'. III) note this examination was only recently imposed, over the years my employer has been happily collecting the benefits of my work, the examination is not something materially needed to perform my role. I was fired yesterday. Long story short(ish), they changed the schedule outside of my availability. Old management approved me leaving early to go pick my son up from school, new management knew this was happening and never said a word until yesterday. They said I “Abandoned work without approval”. I was having other issues with them scheduling us on our off days with short notice and emailed HR so I’m sure this was retaliation. Oh well, I hated that place and was regularly looking for a new job. I just wish leaving was on my choosing. I have been saying to myself that management can “suck my balls out of my asshole” for some time now and regret not saying that too them in person when they fired me.

It could be a long post but it’s biased, anyway it’s the second time a lady in her 50s which I totally outperform at work as a salesman start being obsessed about me and do mistakes to put credit on me. It’s the second 50s lady that hates me so much and make everything to make me fired. My boss in the first case didn’t know cause I was like naive and thought I was doing a good action, this time I tried to defend myself but the lady is like friend with the boss and not me and I’m not believed.
