Saw a post earlier today that had me thinking. At my factory there’s mandatory overtime once a month on a Saturday(used to be every other Saturday) for 6 hours. I’ve gotten kinda used to it nowadays but going in at 7 am on a Saturday after I just left at 11 pm the night before used to really get at me. They give a point too if you miss it.

So I need to start off with some important background info… I have an infection on my arm and I feel pain when I move it. In my job (for the government), I sometimes have to use physical force in a high-risk environment. As this is impossible for me and I don't want to risk my condition worsening, I have switched my shifts for the past 3 months to night shifts. Recently my employer has been refusing to switch my shifts thus I have resulted to speaking with my doctor to get a note from them. Last month my doctor gave me a note informing my employer to switch my shifts to nights for one month, which they did. for the last 4 weeks i have asked my boss for more work but im not getting enough. each morning before the daily stand up meeting i would message him with the tasks i completed tasks i am working on ect. each time i tell him im underutilized and would like more work he says ” im so busy i cant think of anything to give you atm let me think about it” then he might give me a 5 min task. its gotten to the point that i don't have any updates each morning. i spent 2 weeks reviewing compliance documents insuring we are compliant. the thing is this was 40 files and we went over 1 document which was due in February. several were due in march. i have asked if i should work ahead and was told not to since we need to discuss it as a…

IMO greedy landlords contribute significantly to the ills of society but receive disproportionately little blame for it. Inflation, overwork, child neglect, depression, drug abuse, etc., all of these problems are exacerbated by greedy landlords charging unreasonable rent for a finite good that they are either in a privileged position to exploit and/or activity lobby and restrict the production of in order to preserve their unjustly-inflated asset values. Any tips on how to avoid paying rent? The only advice I have is for young people: live with your parents as long as possible and save up for a down-payment on a home. Sadly, this isn't possible for everyone but for those who have stable, loving families, make the most of this gift.

I was about to clock out and go home without letting anyone know but she came up to me and asked me what was wrong so I explained how I felt like I wasn't doing enough and kept screwing up and was worried they were gonna fire me etc all while crying so I figured I'd just quit. She explained that it's okay and I'll get the hang of it etc but I'm worried they're gonna look for my replacement due to this incident today. Should I start looking for another job now? A little background; I have worked in 5 medical offices. Pediatric, Cardio, and Chiropractic. Also, a nursing home. I know my way around customer service and am familiar with software. I have about 10 years of front desk experience. However, this new Chiropractor takes the cake for me as far as toxic environments go. His whole office walked out on him. I didn't know this when I interviewed. They all just entirely left one day. When I started two days ago, the woman next to me (my trainer) was a banker for 20 years. She was there for one week. Take security for instance most companies don't offer lunches or breaks because they provide ample opportunity to rest or take a break during work. So my question is if I don't get that time off what's to stop me from promoting unions while working?
