I have a government job now where I’m doing meaningful, impactful work. I have a decent work life balance compared to the private sector, good benefits, and coworkers who are great to work with. I’m able to shape policy and make government run more efficiently. But the thing is I’m just not fulfilled. I’m not the type who gets fulfilled by my job. My fulfillment comes from the freedom to go for a walk in the middle of the day, the freedom to spend time with family and loved ones whenever I want, and just the freedom to do whatever I want. last year, i booked annual leave for june 10th 2023 – june 20th 2023, it was approved. this morning ive woken up, the 13th, 14th and 15th have been cancelled as annual leave and changed to look like days off, so i wont get paid for those three days off work. i dont understand why they've done this? it was a manager i dont even work under who changed this on my rota. does this sound right? ive texted MY manager asking why this has been done, it was news to her. now she's stopped replying when ive asked why this was done.
I declined a promotion.
My former coworker- now supervisor- is filling the vacancy of the position she held before becoming my supervisor. She told me the job was mine if I wanted it but let me know that there were a few added responsibilities from when she had it, as well as a 10% cut in compensation. Although these things were not decided by her, I declined the job and handed in my notice.
If I would bring up todays paid holiday to my ultra right wing owners, I would probably be fired. They think BLM is a terrorist organization. Anybody else in this situation?
