(Sorry for grammatical errors) My job put out a sign on Sunday to let customers, and employees, know that we’re closing at 8pm for Memorial Day. We all came in on Monday doing our thing when suddenly we got a surge of customers showing up due to a car meet that was happening right in front of the store. I’m guessing the boss saw them through the cameras and called one of the workers at the last minute to let everyone know that we will be closing at 9pm instead. A lot of the coworkers, including myself, felt very bummed about it. Our deli department was more pissed because they already cleaned all the equipment and now they had to stay an extra hour. One of my co workers didn’t wanna stay the extra hour so he left exactly at 8. Another co worker had to tell her husband (he…

The way calling in sick works at my store is that I have to call the store using the same number customers use. The problem is the option to actually call someone and not just hear store information is disabled until 10. My shift starts at 9:30. What the fuck
Walmart and Sam's Club Both Certified as A Great Place to Work Tell me you don't know the realities of your employees without telling me…
I've been trying to hire for months for a customer service position at my company (I'm only one position above this position I'm the interviewer for) and keep having “no call, no shows.” In the position posting we clearly have stated our hourly pay, which is well above any other company in the area, plus a standard commission percentage (no other companyin our area offers this for similar positions in this field). I tried really hard to work with HR to have this position have a really good pay rate, 401k, etc. offering for our area because I'm passionate about employees feeling taken care of by the place they work. I also put a lot of effort into reading through all of the applications/resumes and writing concise interview questions so that it does show that I care about their work history and how that knowledge and experience is valuable. For…
What type of job do you have and what do you like to do to reclaim your time at work? I'm working on an anti-work informational zine and I'd like some help brainstorming some good company time wasters. I'd love to hear about how ppl with different types of jobs spend their time counting down the clock to go home. Personally, I'm in admin and I like to read manga, write, and play flash games. Would love to hear what you do to waste time!
LCSPA walks out on Riot Games
The League of Legends Championship Series Players Association has walked out just days before the series opener in a show of solidarity with it's other members who lost their jobs overnight. The TL;DR of the situation is that team owners were complaining that running a tier 2 league (the NACL, or North American Challenger's League) was too expensive. As a result Riot Games, the league owner, dropped the requirement to field a tier 2 roster. 7/10 teams immediately dropped their players and the other 3 were in limbo. The LCSPA then walked out forcing Riot to delay the season by two weeks because literally no one was willing to play. Riot even tried removing certain long standing rules about player eligibility. So now negotiation is just beginning, and nothing has been won yet, but I just wanted to draw attention to this show of solidarity from not only all the…
Pay difference
The position above me has tried many times to off load her work to me and I have shut it down stating that their position is responsible for that work and is compensated accordingly. They have always maintained that the difference in pay was small and inconsequential even though they didn't know thier rate. (Never bothered to work out the math themselves after promotion) Well; we all got cost of living raises and the company failed to tell anyone what the raise was so we worked it out ourselves….. After the raise they make over $2 more a hour then I do. Thier work load will be increased this year but right now they use maybe 10 to 30 mins a day on the extra work….. When thier work load increases they fully expect me to take on part of it. Not happening unless I get closer to their pay,…
I literally just don’t do work at my 9-5
It’s only been 3 weeks but I’ll frequently go off somewhere for an hour and no one cares because I barely have any tasks to do in the day and frequently show up late because nobody really cares (which is fucking amazing) but yeah it does confuse me what is the point of my being here, I think I do actual work for average 2-3 hours a day… is this normal
