I hate how strict some employers are about playing on your phone.

I currently work a job as a security guard and my company has a no phone or electronics use. The thing is I make slightly above minimum wage so I basically ignore that rule. Plus, I am working at a site where I have mostly nothing to do. Sure, I do my patrols but they only take me 10 minutes to complete. I do about 3 rounds in 8 hours and in between rounds it is really low activity. If I got nothing going on than you bet your ass that I am going to be using my phone or gaming devices to pass the time. As long as the tasks are getting completed in a timely manner why should it matter?

High School Like Behavior

I had made a complaint to my manager about a group of coworkers openly telling the residents at work that I'm lazy and I'm faking my injury to get outta doing more work(when it's not at all true and I have documented proof that I have spinal stenosis and literally had surgery last year), this was a week ago. Well today that group told me that our manager told them all I complained about it. How do these people make it to a high level of management, she is the manager for 4 different nursing homes in this area the company owns. While acting like this is a High School gossip club.

My husband’s boss told my husband “we pay for you to be frustrated”.

My husband told me this the other day and it still irks me. Apparently my husband was chatting with his boss about one of their projects and my husband subtly mentioned “ahh yeah that's been a bit frustrating”. He wasn't intentionally complaining, just having an open conversation. Apparently his boss's reaction was “well we pay you to be frustrated”. My husband was caught so off guard and didn't have any comment back. My husband now feels differently about his boss. He's concerned that as his manager maybe he would have offered help? It was just an off-putting comment for his boss to make. That's clearly not the mentality of a boss anyone desires to work for. This is why people strive for a semi enjoyable work place that's not so uptight.

This man should be retired and enjoying life

Seeing things like this makes me sick. No, it’s not a feel good story it’s disgusting. That check should have been a bonus from corporate for his retirement, not hundreds of costumers’ tips.

Unreasonable Qualification Demands

What relevance do formalities/recorded labor hours possess in determining if One is to be a viable applicant in a line of occupation? One’s presence in generalized courses of education couldn’t wholly dictate one’s ability to perform, much like recorded hours in similar lines of occupation couldn’t be an accurate assessment of current capabilities. This is a dismal predicament that I will not accept as a normality or admonishment to adhere to. This system of applicant selection serves as a segregating agent among financial and intellectual classes, and I will not be denied an opportunity to engage in profitable, productive labor without significant retaliation against civil/governmental systems that uphold such demeanors in a civilization that demands labor, yet denies the freedom to choose which occupation one can engage in.

Rant/Vent

I work in finance as a stock analyst. I went into this career for only one reason. Money. I sacrificed my friends, family, relationships and my identity for the sake of a dollar and it's left me empty. Thankfully COVID isolation broke me before I was to far gone and made me realize I'm not living. I'm tired of being around inflated egos. I always looked at the rich wall st guys thinking I wanted to he them until I realized who they really are. Most of them are drunks, work constantly, broken homes or hate their spouse. They're arrogant and weak and can't fathom living in a world where they have to lift a finger to do something physical. I hear them on a daily basis talk about lower income or even middle class people as if they are cattle or stupid. A few months ago I heard a…

This summer’s travel trends: Shorter, cheaper trips and more driving — unless you’re rich

The U.S. pandemic emergency is officially over and travel restrictions have been lifted, but inflation is still crimping most vacationers’ plans even as wealthier Americans splurge.

I’m nobody and I don’t want to work

There aren’t many instances where it’s worth it to. I was lucky enough to finally get a job that’s necessary but I lost so many other jobs along the way. I used to be one of of those fools that believed there was a reward for working hard. The reward is more hard work. I’ve stayed at some jobs for years with no means of advancement and wages i could barely support myself with. The last 5 years have been the opposite. I’ve worked jobs and did the bare minimum and wasn’t that surprised to see the results were exactly the same. The difference was i quit when i got bored and went somewhere else. Now, I’m taking care of a person for a living instead of contributing to someone else’s wealth. It’s a pretty big pay cut compared to some jobs i used to do but it feels so…
