Have you done your part?
According to an article I read on LinkedIn, the new generations, including millennials, do not want to go above and beyond at work. I would like to know why we should. With the exception of being asked to complete additional projects, If I'm hired to perform a specific number of core tasks throughout the week and I complete those tasks and other projects by producing quality work within a reasonable amount of time, why should I have to go above and beyond? Do I get paid to go above and beyond? Why isn't it enough for some employers for their employees to just do the job they were hired to do? It is also true that most managers want their employees to have a career mindset, and I personally do as well. It's just not at this company. My career mindset is building a career for myself by doing what…
Insane Micromanaging Story
They had me scheduled to work at a sister store rather than the clothing store I have always worked at. It was my first shift there and I didn't know what to expect. I walk in and off the bat, manager (let call her Jan) seems not particularly excited that I'm there. After I'm done putting my things away, I grab a walkie and a water bottle per usual. It will be super inconvenient to always have to run all the way to the break room to get a drink of water and I'll probably get dehydrated by the end of the day. I brush it off. Oh well. Then Jan tells me she wants me to greet people at…

I Just Left My Abusive Job!!!!
Not gonna give details because obviously but I worked an abusive job for a little over 3 years. I've posted a little about it before on here, mostly asking y'all for advice. My boss was sketchy asf, she withheld payment for things she didn't think I needed to get paid for, said racist things, berated me over political posts on my personal Facebook, pushed me to do more than my disability allowed, and overall was a dick. I am happy to say I'm DONE. What comes next, I don't know. I've been DoorDashing and making about the same as I made with her. However, I know this can't be my forever career. That's ok though. I am in a better spot now that I left her in the dust! Good riddance! PS. The company isn't doing great without me. Sucks to suck 😀
