This makes me happy. My employer has managed to squash union talk for nearly 40 years. They've FA'd for quite awhile. Hopefully this means they're about to Find Out.

Hello all! Sorry if this is the wrong sub to post this in as it's more of a question about my situation. First, I live and work in the UK. My job is very full on and extremely demanding, to the point where targets and goals are realistically unobtainable in my 9-5. So, to get it over the line, I've done voluntary over time to stay in the green. Effectively I saw it as putting the extra work in now so that it makes mine and my colleagues work lives easier in the long run. I also have a bad habit of not looking at my pay slips properly, so this is something I've really just only noticed after years, but I have not been paid for this voluntary over time, something that was not asked of me or authorised by my managers, but something I took upon myself. I…
“Job abandonment”
I just got fired due to a claim that I had abandoned my job. On 05/01/23 I messaged my boss letting him know that I had severely injured my hand during a personal incident(I attempted rearranging my furniture and my hand got stuck in a treadmill that collapsed on me). On 05/16/23 I returned to work and 6 hours into my shift I received an email saying that I was being terminated due to job abandonment. I argued with them and they continuously referenced the employee handbook and didn’t seem to care about my situation at all. I know that job abandonment means you aren’t qualified for unemployment- but I was working my scheduled shift and my employer never told me my time was an issue? Is there anything I can do? They also terminated me saying my manager reached out “several times” to no response and I have proof…
I know this is antiwork, but if I post in r/work all they'll say is you need to work harder or that's life, but anyway. All I want is a job that won't keep me until 8 or 9 oclock because i often have to do stuff after work whether it's something for my grandma or myself, that requires me to use my phone or whatever and then i have a problem going to sleep. It seems like so many businesses want people to work during the evening. All I want is a job that I can show up to at 7-9 am and leave anywhere between 3 and 5 pm at most 6 pm. Also I dislike customer service, but soo many jobs are customer service. I fr just want a job that I complete some tasks at and then go home. So wtf do I do?
I see posts here from workers who have undeniable, cold-blooded rage texts from their managers… yet we never learn the name of the company. I understand reddit doesn’t allow us posting a specific business location or the managers name. Are posts that name the big global company also blocked? ((EDIT: I heard from a mod. They DO NOT reject posts that name big global companies. They do reject posts that name small businesses. )) The text exchanges are just screen shots of the manager’s own words. That’s not libel. My motivation: There is no chance of the average worker’s quality of life improving if the company receives zero feedback about their managers’ actions. And a lowly, former employee has no power when we are not united. We would also get better results as we (as a group) experiment with different ways to seek publicity for these injustices. It is a…
There are no “low-skill” jobs
Greedflation is good… What BS.
Reposting original link wasn’t working and had a paywall. That’s to user that posted the free link sorry I don’t remember their name.
On the one hand, I can demand a reference letter in return. On the other hand, I am so pissed at them that the thought of being a part of the team any longer makes me want to scream. I don't know what to do. To them, and others, it probably seems I quit on a whim but it's been building up over months and months. I think today I will have some wine and worry about it tomorrow.
