I was interviewing for a management position yesterday and the recruiter asked me what was the biggest challenge in my previous job, to which I replied -“the low pay” She chuckled. Eventually it cued into “we will give you a call back next week if you make it into the next round of interviews” I’m excited guys. I think I’m finally busting ! Edit: Forgot to type in. Please share your best interview stories and moments ! Let’s all basque and show appreciation for the recruiting staff they are always very friendly, honest and selfless!

Suggest a new career for me?
I don't like what I do for a living anymore. I think I'm way too alternative for a “normal” job, but I am at a loss for what I could turn to. If you had to guess, what do you think I work with? And what could I do instead?
So it seems that the company I work at is unable to believe that fact that some people just don't want to hang out with co-workers. They are doing everything they can to get people to come together. It seems like most of the team is on board though, but I'm not. If you say, you can't go, they will reschedule the entire event for you. Now they are scheduling happy hours during work hours (paid by them), how do I avoid this? This is a remote job. How do I say I can't go, but technically its during work hours so I should be available. How do I get out of this?
Being punished for Memorial Day
Tldr: my company wants us to work on the weekend to make up for not working on memorial day, am I crazy for thinking this is weird? Let me start off saying I currently work 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts. I didn't realize Monday was a holiday until they were talking about it today. Ar first I was excited for a 4 day weekend until they said to make up for it we will be working next Friday. Am I crazy for thinking this is weird? I talked with my coworkers about this and they made it sound like it wasn't unusual. It just feels like if we were work 5 days a week we wouldn't have to make up that day on Saturday? Plus it really throws my personal schedule out of wack since I usually have plans with friends on Fridays. Honestly I probably will be…

Title says it all. Some background information: I work for a large temp agency. They moved my colleague to another department so I've been working by myself for the past few weeks. Taking days off now is apparently very difficult since there is no one to cover for me. They still haven't found any replacement for my colleague so I have to fend for myself atm. A few weeks ago, I scheduled an appointment in the hospital for my nose – nothing life-threatening but the waiting lists are very long so I was lucky that I could squeeze in this easily. I called in sick on the day of my appointment since they wouldn't allow me to take the day off. My manager keeps on calling and texting me begging if I'm still able to work today. Just a few hours pls because they don't have anyone who can cover…
I come from Sweden. As good labour laws as we have today here, they weren't always this good. In the beginning of the 1900s we workers had to go out in massive strikes, and we were even shot at by military (Skotten i Ådalen if you're interested). We slowly started to unionize and built a strong force of workers working together for each other. Today we don't even have a minimum salary by law, because our unions are so strong almost every company is forced to follow their lead. I see a lot of posts on here about wanting change in America. But trust me, big corps isn't going to do shit until you fight for it. So I hope that you will organize, and unionize, and do general strike if necessary. Americans have such a strong spirit, and we swedes look up to you in a lot of ways.…
